  Poor Weather NE England
Posted by: hightower - 15-05-13, 08:31 AM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

Sorry about the foul weather we've been experiencing since last week. I think it's my fault, and I would like to apologise. You see, I got a new bike on Friday, and well, this is what happens isn't it. It's trying to make me enjoy it less, but even though I got totally wet through (and subsequently bought some over-clothes waterproofs this morning) it is not working.
I just don't like that my bike is sitting outside all day in the wet whilst I'm at work...

Pinched my daughters horse riding camera and strapped it onto the FZ1 bars as an experiment. The 1GB memory card filled up after 27 minutes. Gonna have to get a bigger one!

She also had to help me 'edit' this a little to get rid of a dodgy overtake or two  :eek

Can't seem to work out how to put a direct video in, have to do it by link.  Sad

Should they stay or should they go now......

So dropped into Chorley Yamaha on the way back from Rivington on Sunday (prior to getting soaked), and noticed a couple of shiny black n gold FZ8 Fazers sat in the corner, price reduced from £8K to £6300. So I'm now thinking about possibly trading in my weekend toy:

Plus my trusty S2

for a nice new shiny 8 plus a few tasty extras  Big Grin , exhaust, brake lines, tail tidy, twin dipped lights mod, etc .... and maybe a Drift or Go-Pro

However, and there's always a however, I like the absolute contrast between the sensible (but Foccin fast) Fazer and the raw basic ridiculousness of the Harley, both bikes suit different moods , but I'm starting to feel the twin bike servicing hurt.

So what do you guys/gals think good idea, crap idea, FZ8 best thing since sliced bread, or is it pretty average and only reduced because there's a facelift coming, or is it worth looking at an FZ1S and waving my license goodnight. Obviously I haven't sorted out a test ride yet but it's gotta be a worth a play one weekend.

Cheers Ian

Gents, anyone have any pics of where and how the indicators have been moved to after fitting panniers and top box rails? Do i have to move the indicators?
I know there are plenty pannier posts but none that show good pics of where and how the indicators are mounted...........

  Fitting a box to a FZS1000
Posted by: Loz - 14-05-13, 08:44 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

Hi all, I want to fit my Givi monolock top box to my bike, I have the plate but was wondering what my options are for fitting the plate to the bike, I am understanding that I will need a rack of some sort to fit the plate to.

All advise will be appreciated.

  max voltage
Posted by: ghostbiker - 14-05-13, 07:58 PM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

Lost a load of electric bit on the Gsx600f yesterday. Lost indicators, horn, brake light, all the dash lights and rev counter. Plus the fuel gauge was reading 1/4 now reads almost full.
Not had much chance to have a good look yet, even to check the fuses I have to strip off half the panels.
But I did run a volt meter on the battery with engine running, at 5k manual say it needs a min of xxx volts but don't give me a max. It's putting out 14.7 v which seems a little high?

I checked the manual and for all the above to be effected would meen 3 fuses blown at same time so I'm thinking more reg/rect

Will look deeper once I get a day off but just wanted to know if there should be a max volt from the charging system.

  OOPS....
Posted by: Exupnut - 14-05-13, 07:28 PM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

Had a little shunt at work today.  Didnt fall off tho, only goin 15 mph while lookin for an address on the left hand side. Van in front about 10 mtr matchin my speed so i thought i was ok. It stopped and i looked round at the last sec and slammed brakes on and tried to avoid to the right and just crunced into his rear light with the left side of me fairin. Ouchy. (Bike not me) so i was just hangin there fer a few secs tryin to drag the bike upright but it was to far over so i binned it on its side. Its only a slow silver bandit after all. Hehe that fuked the lever an all. I sorta lifted my right leg an just dropped me hoss. Lucky bein a lanky git.

Glad it wasnt on my blue bullet or my insurance.
:-))

Still.... Lesson learnt ....dont drive like a cunt!!

So why are Pubs closing all over London?
Posted by: Streetbudgie - 14-05-13, 06:55 PM - Forum: General - Replies (48)

I've heard some interesting arguments on this one

I think it it is to do with the changing population of London reflecting the increase in the number of those from overseas and and those with a different heritage from the  indigenous Englishman

For religious reasons some people don't drink alcohol and other countries just don't have going to Pubs as part of their social culture.

I thought I could list some countries that do but apart from UK, Ireland and Germany I really can't.

Greek people on the whole like a bevy but it's usually around family and a meal with kids and granny et all involved.
