  fuel/air mixture?
Posted by: carrier - 15-05-13, 06:26 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (17)

A brand new problem.. or is it related?

So it's had two episodes where it was hard to start, had to run the starter for a while and then a nice loud back fire then could ride no problems. The other time it started but wouldn't rev up when I turned the throttle, it would hesitate for a bit and then it would open up. I'm guessing my fuel/air mixture is too rich and I'm flooding the engine... should I play with the screw?

Thanks!

  Won't Start - No Spark!
Posted by: paulh - 15-05-13, 01:54 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

Hi, My son's Fazer 600 has a fault that I am having a nightmare trying to fix!
Was running ok, then engine stopped and would not re-start. Checked fuel ok, but no spark on any cylinder.
The engine cranks normally, so main, sidestand, neutral and kill switch are ok. Fuses ok
Have checked plug caps, ignition coils, have replaced ECU and main relay, which made no difference.
Checked pickup coil resistance and continuity of wiring from crankshaft sensor, checked TPS which appears
to be ok. Having admitted defeat on finding the problem I sent bike to motorcycle repair garage locally who
could not find the fault either! I brought bike home in back of van and got an auto electrician in to fix it.
3 hours later still no fix!!! Arrrrrrrgh!! have now booked bike in the local Yamaha dealer to sort, but can't take a look
at it for another week or so. Has anyone got any bright ideas? as I am desperate to sort it out having spent over
£250 on van hire, parts that did'nt fix it and" professionals" who could'nt fix it either.
Many thanks for reading my tale of woe.
Any ideas would be most welcome.
Thanks, Paul

RST Kevlar jeans, Oxford tank and tail packs and 600 Foxeye blue flip-up screen
Posted by: risticuss - 15-05-13, 12:12 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (10)

Hi there guys and gals,
I have few bits and bobs that I'm not using, or not planning on using in the future.

RST Kevlar jeans, size 34x32 (WxL) bought but didn't get on with (prefer me textiles). They come with knee and hip armour. The hip armour has been cut down from some slightly bigger pads to make it more comfortable and the hip pockets are removable. The stonewash/fade on them is a little extreme, but they could always be dyed.

£20 plus postage
Now Sold

Screen was with the bike when I bought it but isn't my cup of tea. It has been used so has a few minor scratches that could be polished out I suppose, but it looks ok and looks like a genuine Yamaha one. I think someone had put an edging strip on it as it came with a bit of gluey residue on the top edge which I've cleaned off

£10 plus postage

The tank bag (magnetic) and tailpack are both Oxford, the slightly older stuff pre x-series and 1st time luggage, but haven't been used much and I'd put them in the nearly new category. I always just ride with a rucksack so don't use them. They've perhaps been used twice. The other reason is 'cause they're red, and I now have a blue Fazer instead of a red CBR. I haven't got the cover for the tank bag, but I can't remember if I have the one for the tailpack.
I haven't got any photos of them at present (I'm at work) but I'll take some this evening and update the thread.
I'm looking for £30 each plus postage.

Cheers all

Simon

Radiator problem, trying to get to downpipes.
Posted by: Andy Smith FZS - 15-05-13, 11:57 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Having some issues removing the radiator so I can put my new downpipes on.  I can see one of the nuts for the exhaust is focced so need some room for my nut removal tool (dremel if needed) there's two nuts that sit below the radiator, one came off no problem. The other won't budge, any movement just pulls the weld between the bracket on the radiator and the frame.  Its come away abit now and its been given liberal amounts of wd.  I don't have any welding tools so need some suggestions. Tempted to rip the bugger off.

Where can i download info on Headlight Mod
Posted by: gethyn - 15-05-13, 10:22 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

Knowing of the headlight mods´benifits i decided to do a search. I read one foccer saying he´s downloaded a guide from the download section but I can´t find it.

If anyone can point me in the right direction i´d be glad. i might also feel safe enough to stop wrapping myself in fairy lights after dark.
