  Speed Camera Van
Posted by: Bitfik - 31-05-13, 05:42 PM - Forum: General - Replies (9)

Yesterday I was going round a roundabout. Real nice one btw, nice camber on the road etc... That's beside the point tho lol.

Anyway, the exit before mine has two lanes but only their outside one has to stop, I have right of way on what becomes the outside lane. 30 limit but traffic always coming up the inside. About 50 or so yards away the speed limit changes to 50.

I'm concentrating on the turn, the traffic on the inside and give the throttle a little tickle. So doing 48 in the 30 zone just before the 50 zone begins.

Then I notice on the opposite pavement a police camera van pointing the other way, but obviously the cam out the back looking my way.

Yes I'm in the wrong, no question. Question is can they, or are they likely to have snapped me as I'm riding away from them?

Never had a ticket before and don't want one now!

Cheers for any replies.

Hi all,i not to good at sending emails etc so hope I posted this on the right page!,i just purchased a genuine chain  sprocket kit for my 2005 fzs1000 from J&S I think! but have a look on ebay at item number 1409 8699 7892 as I just payed £90 plus £7 postage,i think a lot of you will rather have the lastest chain & sprockets kits but after 40 yrs of buying pattern parts etc I jumped at this price as I have now done 21,000 miles on my standard chain & sprockets 2 up most of the time and they still ok,i brought a motobatt last October & guess what I waiting for it to be replaced so more than happy to get the original chain etc for £100,cheers Steve

  suspension setup
Posted by: Enceladus - 31-05-13, 12:52 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

having seen delboys suspension setup video again last night i think its about time i sorted mine out!
i assume that the adjustments are the screws on the top of the forks and the twisty bit (technical term!) at the bottom of the back suspension ?
are there any other adjustables ?
thanks Smile

  Dent puller
Posted by: simonm - 31-05-13, 12:15 PM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

As I have widely advertised in my shy way I have a substantial handlebar shaped ding in my fuel tank.  It has definite creases and I don't think a suction puller would cut the mustard.

To compound the issue the cost of the tank vs a body shop makes it financially hard to justify the cost.

So two questions:

- is the fazer tank twin skinned?
- should I just leave it dented or should I have a go with one of these?  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPRING-SALE-PO...1145195228

I know worst case scenario is a wrecked tank and I should empty it of fuel first but any other advice ?

brake seal kits & pads question
Posted by: Enceladus - 31-05-13, 11:16 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

when i change my brake lines over to braided ones i might as well give the brakes a clean and new seals as i don't know when they were last done.
there is still quite a bit of meat on the pads, but as the bike has only done 8.5k miles (on a 2002 plate!) i think they might be the originals and ought to be replaced.
are any seal kits better than others or are they all pretty much the same ?
what about brake pads ?
any better than others ?
thanks all Smile

Cut-out relay location - cautiously optimistic it's cured!
Posted by: Stooby2 - 31-05-13, 08:12 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (25)

Can anyone give me an idea where to look for this relay. still haven't solved the problem of the bike cutting out and this is the next thing to check.

So far..

New kill switch.
All the connectors under the tank checked & cleaned.
Side stand and clutch switches bypassed.
Wiring and connectors to CDI unit checked.
Ignition switch cleaned and tested and appears to be OK.

It's not fuel related as it backfires quite spectacularly when it restarts. Always good fun when going through Brixton.

There's no rhyme or reason to the cutting out - it's completely random, and will disappear for a day or two, which makes me suspect a failing relay. There's no alarm, but it does have an immobiliser, which will be the next item for checking of it's not the cut our relay.

  Mirrors: alternatives for FZS600 Mk1
Posted by: Defiant - 31-05-13, 08:02 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

After a wheelie attempt gone wrong I am looking for new mirrors for my FZS600 (2000).

I used to have cheap aftermarket ones with indicators and they were bad (came with the bike).
I could get used original ones, but I've read that Mk2 mirrors are a bit longer and offer a better view.
While I couldn't find Mk2 mirrors, I've found FZ6 (supposedly off a 2008 model) ones.

Will they fit without any mods? How's the view?

Any other Yamaha models I could use mirrors off?

Thanks
