  front brake service question
Posted by: mobile mouse - 01-06-13, 09:30 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

Hi,
serviced both front brakes today.
After clearing all the crud off the pistons I polished them with Autosol.
Shiny or what, they move in/out so easy.

That were the problem started, one fell out and brake fluid went all over the floor.
I pushed the piston back in very easily.

Can I bleed the brakes now knowing there could be a little brake fluid between the fluid seal and the dust seal.

Or should I pull out the pot (loose ALL the brake fluid) and dry between the two rubbers and re-insert the pot and add new fluid and bleed brakes.

what should I do now.......

  Mixture Screw Adjustment
Posted by: Kentish - 01-06-13, 08:37 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

Hello All,
Do you adjust your settings by the manual ie 2.5 turns? My mate says his screws are all at different settings as the bike seems to sound better? I am nt sure about that. Shall I stick to what the manual says?

Update: Half decent offer for PX - so back to standard she goes. If any foccer wants to have a look give me a shout, Bracknell on weekends or London (Blackfriars) during work time. Most of the spares and bits will be showing up on ebay soon so if you want owt just make a sensible offer (although I may keep the can and shock for a transplant)

02 Reg, 25k in fast blue. Taxed till end of Feb 14, MOT due this month so will have a full year.

Would prefer to sell as is rather than un-modding and selling off the bits  Wink
Price £3500 Sensible offers over 2.4k

Hi guys Smile

Just signed up to the site, I'm still currently taking lessons (mod 1 of my test is booked!). I'm pretty much settled on an FZS600 when I've passed my test (my instructor has two different Fazers that I've been learning on, one is really nice to ride, really smooth. The other is much more rattly and vibey, think it needs a good service).

So yeah, thought I would sign up here and have a look around see if I can pickup any tips or common faults with the bikes for when I eventually get to buy one.

Thanks for reading, hope I can talk to some more of you soon Smile

Cheers

Mick.

Fuel Sensor light, when should it come on?
Posted by: ltcorwin - 01-06-13, 03:12 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Hi guys,

So I'm well into my second tank of petrol on my FZS600, 99 boxeye.

My Dad and I did lift the tank last week to try and wire in a Battery Voltage Monitor, and I'm  worried we may have messed up the wiring, though all we did was pivot it at the back end.

I'm getting worried though, the fuel light hasn't come on yet, and the gauge is nudging below a quarter.
The fuel light still comes on correctly as part of the circuit check when starting my bike, so does that mean it's all well and good, or can it get disconnected/fail and still test properly?

To be fair I can't remember for sure where on the gauge the light came on last time, and I don't know how far I'd ridden that time, but I've done north of 140 miles on this tank, about half urban and ringroads, half A and B road yomps, so it's possible my mileage is just better this time, but......

Any suggestions/reassuring words?

Sorry for asking such noobish questions...

LTC

TIA.
