  Tax teaser
Posted by: Tiberius Onklevaart - 03-06-13, 10:33 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Hallo peeps

Here's a doozy

I have finally got round to catching up with tax details for the 3 bikes.
Currently there's a bit of a mish mash of old v-documents.
Gixxer is SORN'd until october so all fine on that front.

But the 2 fazers seem to be a problem.
I went to SORN em and on both, the direct.gov site says no details exist as I am either too early or too late.
Late, obviously.

Black fazer at least a year out of date I reckon, as it hasn't moved in 2 or so.
Silver fazer ran out in November.
I have some old v5 references but the site is having none of it.
No reminders have come through for fazers, although thats immaterial.

I've no idea how to proceed. I thought about getting a new v5 for silver,  but only so I can tick the box to scrap before sending back.  I still have v5 for black fazer so might as well fill it out and send it off.

Any ideas? Of the sort that avoid big fines?

Mucho thanks

  Odd problem/fix
Posted by: DryRob - 03-06-13, 10:12 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

This has happened twice now and I can't work out how the fix got rid of the problem.

Came home from work on the bike tonight and was due back out within half an hour. Went back out, turned ignition on and pressed the starter button and nothing just oil and fuel light coming on with the button. Thought it needed a bump start so gave it a go, nothing. Tried bumping again, still nothing. Bollocks.

Bike back into the garage, multimeter out to test fuses and they're all OK. Must be the starter relay or motor, tested them. Testing suggested the relay was toast so got that out and started looking for another of Fleabay.

Looking over the wiring diagram I noticed I could just bridge the terminals and still use my bike for work so back in the relay went. Ignition on, bridged the relay and the starter motor started going off but the engine still didn't fire. Battery voltage was fine, well it must be the fuel pump or pump relay, where are they then? Back into the house for another read of Haynes and back out to the garage.

Hang on, has the pump been clicking? Turns out it wasn't. I thought, why not try the diagnostic before getting the tank up. I unplugged the TPS turned on the ignition and the fuel pump started going mad. After resetting, the bike started on the button.

Any ideas what caused this and how the fix worked? I wasted a good three hours trying to work out what was wrong and it turns out nothing, it starts fine now.

Replacing Front forks, left different from right?
Posted by: Defiant - 03-06-13, 09:31 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi everybody,

need to replace the front forks, as at least one of them is bent.

I might get each one of them from different sellers.

Question: is the right hand fork the same as the left hand one, i.e. are they interchangeable?

Also are the non ajustable forks from 98-99 different in layout from the 00-03 ones?

Thanks

  Turntable.
Posted by: MrS - 03-06-13, 08:09 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Hello,

I have got a new shed and want to ride the bike in and out. There is a bit of ramp to get in/out and I have nearly dropped it coming out backwards. Has anyone got or used a decent turntable that I could spin the bike on in the shed? Any recommendations.

Thanks.

  fitting a yamaha endless chain
Posted by: elektrikAlien - 03-06-13, 07:29 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Hi -
Have bought a genuine Yamaha chain kit for my Gen1 Fazer 1000.
It has an endless (DID ZVM) chain (in the kit).
It states in Haynes that you need to remove the suspension complete and then remove swingarm to fit the chain. Does any guru out there know if I can get away with just undoing the dogbones where it bolts on to the swingarm and slide the swing arm backwards just enough to get the old chain off and the new one on - I have never done this before as I have always used a broken chain with a rivet.
Any advice would be welcome - Thanks  Smile
