No, not a knackered one for a change
Serviced mine yesterday and everything came out with ease thx to the copper slip and spring washers.
But I did notice to things that may cause issues later.
Top cable has very slight fraying as it enters the outer cover
But what caught my eye was the end plate and just how worn its starting to get.
Works 100% no rattle, squeak or anything but really starting to grove the end plate as per pic.
As per my post in the 600 section, after a few bits to personalise my new bike a bit.
Certainly on the list is a monokey compatible topbox rack.
Would also be interested in a bagster tank cover for it (it's a bright red 03 foxeye)
After a scottoiler and braided brake hoses too!
Could potentially be after pretty much any bits at the right price though, so what random bits have you got lying around you'd like some beer tokens for?
Well guys, as is the way with a new bike to yourself, you feel the need to give it a bit of a check, and do personalise it a bit - make it more your own.
Aside from the front sprocket nut, are there any other hidden things that need to be checked on Fazer? She certainly runs and looks fine, but anything on the inside that would be a good shout?
Also want to personalise her a bit, the brakes are on the original lines and feel a little squishy (although sure pull the bike up hard when slammed on!) so I'll be getting a set of braided hoses for her. Will also be after a monokey compatible topbox rack to pop a box back on her, and possibly a few other bits if money allows - particularly want a Scottoiler and possibly a bagster tank cover (if I can figure out what colour it is I've got!).
Are there any particular modifications that make a really big riding difference to a Fazer 6? The screen I feel could be a tad higher, but I'm going to leave it at the moment as it does limit my motorway cruising speed nicely to about 85! Only other thing I can think of along these lines are possibly changing the handlebars as they do feel quite upright and close, which is a bit of an odd feeling!
Also got a rear seat that has a rip in it to get recovered, would make sense to get it reshaped to make it a bit more comfy whils I'm at it - anyone able to recommend any good shapers in the Leicestershire/general Midlands area?
I took my 2000 fazer for a mot last week, he said wow that,s well looked after, he only checked the brakes, and gave my a mot, just said I can see there is no need to check anything else lol, happy days.
2002 fazer 1000, blue, 5 former keepers, absolutely genuine bike thats never been dropped and always garaged .48 k new renthal sprox and heavy duty gold DID cxhain. motor runs sweet as a nut, burns no oil between changes and has never let me down or had any issues, id ride this bike around the globe in complete confidence, its a proper good 'un and a pukka bike. its one of them bikes that has been looked after from new, and it shows in its much better than average condition.
MOT expires august 31st, taxed til end of january 2014.
loads of paperwork including old mots, servicing bills, 3 previous dealers purchase reciepts, owners manual etc showing stuff like..
valves checked and shimmed 02/09 32072m
forks stripped cleaned new seals 05/11
new starter relay 06/12
new battery 08/12 44743 miles, always optimated since etc
bike has almost new hagon rear shock, scottoiler, colour coded belly pan and hugger, wider than stock bars with stainless steel bar ends, temp controllable oxford heated grips wired thru relay so come on with ignition, black zero gravity screen, micron titanium slip on(its only done 400 miles) and original pipe and decent crash bungs, fairly recent head and wheel bearings.
micron link pipe has reduced dia so it runs perfect on standard jetting, but can swap for older stainless micron with full size link pipe if preferred.
thats about it...£1450 all in..now back up for sale, and soon to be taxed and retested which will put the price up by £150 atb paul
So after having my new fazer 600 for all of 5 minutes, the front wheel slipped at a petrol station, scrapping the hell out of the front fairing as it hit the deck.
Would any one know of anywhere to get a yellow fairing, either fixed or replaced? Or better still, have a spare lying around that they would part with for some cash?
