Tyre Pressures
Posted by: hightower - 19-06-13, 10:14 PM - Forum: General - Replies (21)

I was fitting my disc lock to my front wheel tonight at the library, and thought I'd press the tyre to check pressure. It was soft as a pudding, strange I thought, so went to the garage on my way home 20 psi! 20!

What's the lowest you've let yours get to?

  Sanding Forks and maybe painting
Posted by: Dcock - 19-06-13, 09:24 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi, so lately I have been thinking about sanding down the bottom part of my forks and either spraying them silver or just keeping it brushed aluminium as they're quite flakey.
Has anyone had a go at this and got any tips?
would you remove the forks to do this or just remove the wheel and mudguard?

Thanks, Dan

My new FZ6 N S2 new and unreg
Posted by: lew600fazer - 19-06-13, 07:14 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Hopefully I have posted a photo of my new bike had it just over a week now.
Feels strange as I have down sized as they say. I had a Kawasaki Z1000SX up until last week  that was a fantastic bike and the two years I had it loved every minute of it.
But had to have a reality check , I live on the Costa Blanca now and the roads around here are just not suited for a 140 bhp bike, also being an old fart 64 it was just to heavy for me.
I had a Fazer 600 S 1 back in 07 and loved it so I thought I would look for a good one. Was I lucky or what the bike is a 2010 model (Spain) it was unregistered and came with a Yamaha 2 year warranty. Having loads of fun on it and on the twisty roads around here still able to keep up with those on bigger bikes . Still running in but I know she is a wee pocket rocket and the guy that has bought my SX is in for a surprise when we hit the mountain roads again in a week or so.
Lew

  Giving me the needle
Posted by: darrsi - 19-06-13, 06:42 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

I checked my TPS earlier, and the needle shot up to 10,000rpm so i switched off and went back in to work, and borrowed the torx tool ready to sort it out when i got home.

Then as i left work i turned the ignition on and saw the needle stuck at 0rpm, so presumed that was part of the fault.

That's when i noticed the bloody needle has somehow popped under the 0rpm stopper  :'(

Question is, do these clocks come apart for me to get to the needle easily enough?
I haven't got time to look at it tonight but was wondering if anyone could point me (and the needle) in the right direction?

  Oil filter removal
Posted by: Fraser - 19-06-13, 06:05 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

Seems pretty obvious really ! I recently got a 98 FZS600, ordered my service kit, got bike on stand in garage, so far so good, its got after market stainless down pipes, not enough room to get filter out !! do I really have to remove downpipes to get filter out ?  I hope not cuz the manifold studs are rustier than a rusty thing , any advice would be very welcome, thanks, Fraser

  petrol in oil?
Posted by: keno - 19-06-13, 05:26 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (28)

Bike has been smelling heavily of fuel when starting the bike the last few months, anyway due to work not had much time to look at it.
Took the plugs out and stunk of petrol, oil filler cap is full of emulsion and stinks of petrol, also went into town on bike 3 mile journey all round and engine was a lot hotter than usual.Stuck finger through oil filler and scraped lots of emulsion on inside of clutch casing, scared to take it off and look now.. :eek

Any ideas?

  Hi all
Posted by: peppiiino - 19-06-13, 04:06 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

Hi all,
my name is Giuseppe, but my friends in Sicily (where i'm from) call me Peppino

I'm currently on a nice and rusty cb 400 sf but looking to upgrade, personally always been a fan of the fzs 600, first model

Hope to join you guys soon with my new purchase

There is only 1 thing that scares me about the fzs, I read a lot of articles regarding this 2nd gear causing issues. Is it something that affected the early models only or not? Is it something that soon or later will happen in all models?

Thanks, Giuseppe
