Right! I have a bit of an unusual question, and I'm hoping it's a) easy to resolve, and b) cheap to fix!
Recently, the bike has been struggling to start. Not that it grinds for ages, then coughs into life reluctantly (flat battery symptoms), but either grinds away(turning over though - I can feel the puff from the exhaust) or starts within a second or two of pressing the starter button. Sometimes, I have to press the starter (5 / 10 second bursts) a half dozen times before it engages. When it does, it engages perfectly.
Strangely, it seemed fine earlier when the engine was warm. I ride it daily, and often at high revs, so I doubt it's a battery fault... Any takers on this one?
Thanks!

I am just about sick to death of fucking itunes.
Is there any way of getting music on my ipod without using itunes?
Does anyone know why itunes refuses to register a folder I have added that contains a load of vinyl to MP3 files as an album? I have created it with the properties listing the album title on each track, a track number etc.
Instead it lists each track as an album which means I have put together a collection which I can't listen to unless I search for each track.

I made the fatale mistake of taking the bike to the local ride-in, ride-out car cleaners to get the rain and other muck cleaned off the bike as I was too tired myself to do it.
What ever they sprayed onto the engine when it was warm/hot, has fucking stained the engine. At this point I was rather annoyed and asked WTF it was and they said it was just shampoo/water - like fuck.
Eveywhere its gotten has left a chemical residue and or stain. I tried a bit of AutoGlym wheel cleaner and that blended it a bit but its still visible, any ideas..?

After a weekend of Ivanising you'd think I'd have spent enough time recently with carbs on the bench, wouldn't you? Well, I managed to shoot meself in the foot twice this weekend ...
First, a couple of weeks back I had the R1 carbs apart to unbung some blocked pilot jets. Not ridden enough, 'nuff said. While I was at it, I fitted new float bowl gaskets. Held them in place in the bowl covers with a couple of small dabs of sticky silicon grease. All great so far.
Saturday I fitted the R1 radial master cylinder to the Fazer. Just needed to do the final bleed on Sunday ... no probs, do it after a ride on the R1.
The first 150 miles were brilliant - love that R1 motor - then suddenly I'm on a 750 3-cylinder. Don't think I'd buy a triple if that's what they feel like ... but anyway, it ran on 4 below 3k rpm and on a whiff of throttle, so nursed it home and set about clearing the workspace. Just bleed those Fazer brakes and move it out the way - oh, bollox! R1 master cylinder must be good because it's blown one of the caliper seals!
So, off with the calipers and out with the seals. Then shuffle over to the R1 and pull the carbs on that one. First float bowl I opened up revealed a blocked main jet. What's this? Looks like some kind of gel ... ah!! Guess who's just learned that HT silicon grease doesn't dissolve in petrol. A small glob must have been squeezed into the float bowl where it took its time finding a home in the main jet. Problem solved.
As for the caliper seals, what's with Yamaha parts pricing these days? Fowlers quoted me just under £130 for 16 bloody rubber rings! At least Dick Turpin wore a mask! :rollin
Although it goes against the grain, I'm trying pattern seals at £37 for the full set from Wemoto. Claimed to be OE standard and I'll take a chance on that, since I figure Yamaha don't make their own anyway but buy them in and slap them in Yamaha packaging.
Wish me luck ...

are the fork seals on the fazer thou a big job or does everything come apart easily? as usual Haynes and the genuine manual don't help a great deal, it has been a few years since I last fitted fork seals

Hi guys,
Just found out I'm missing my standard toolkit for my 03 fox-eye, so unless someone has one lying around and fancies selling it to me I'll be needing to put one together!
So, what exactly is in a standard toolkit? And out of interst, what else do you guys tend to keep under your seats in case it comes in handy?
