  sad news
Posted by: Stedman8 - 25-06-13, 02:59 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

Due to unforeseen circumstances (nuff said ) my once pristine fzs 600 is now not so pristine, it is now in the hands of the insurers who are deciding whether its a write off or not :'( .If they decide its no longer viable I may try and purchase it back off them and break it down and try and get a bit of the money I have spent on it back in my pocket towards a new ride. Has anyone any advice on the best way to do this i.e. sell the thing whole to a breakers yard or adverts on this site or maybe e-bay thanks in advance for any help,Steve

p.s. does anyone have any advice on how to get round on crutches its like a nightmare falling over things catching them in the carpet etc, cheers guys Steve

[smg id=996 type=preview align=center caption="fzs600 diy rad guard"]Hi

New member here, just bought 99 fazer. Totally happy with it. I've done a few jobs on it which are:

Painted fork legs
Fitted scottoiler
Changed front sprocket nut and cleaned inside cover
Overhauled rear brake and cleaned up front calipers
Oil and filter changed
Headlight mod

Today I made an alloy rad guard mainly to cover up the nasty rad. It will help protect the rad too so I can get a bit longer out of it. What do you think?.

Anyone have some bent FZ6 forks?
Posted by: kebab19 - 25-06-13, 02:00 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

Was wondering if any FZ6 owners had an old damaged fork leg? I'm really after the damper rod thats inside the lower stanchion.

I've been busy fitting Debrix emulators to my FZS600 forks & wondered if they would also be suitable for improving the FZ6's fork action ... would be a much cheaper option than R6 forks.

  Fazer 8 or FZ1S
Posted by: Soapy - 25-06-13, 11:18 AM - Forum: General - Replies (12)

Chatting with a few mates last night and considering doing a European Tour next year. Love my 600 but think I might be better off with a bigger bike to do it. I like both the Fazer Z1S and Fazer 8. Is there anyone who lives near Aberdeen who has a Fazer 8 so that I can see one in the flesh. Any comments/opinions welcome.

  New Fazer Owner
Posted by: Kenvis Repesco - 25-06-13, 09:28 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (5)

Hello everyone, I picked up my Gen 1 Fazer 1000 last week. Its the fast Blue one on an 03, it was toilet seat standard brake lines, exhaust everything. One owner from new, 9000 miles just how I like em. I sold my Hayabusa which I said I never would but I decided I needed a change freshen things up a bit. All I have done to it up to now is replace the exhaust with a Pipewerx can and link pipe which looks great and sounds much, much nicer and the quality for the money is amazing. I also have a Yamaha TRX850 twin which is good fun and sounds brilliant, its a nice alternative to the four cylinder thing once in a while. I live in a place called Marple just outside Stockport which is very handy for some excellent welsh roads. I must admit I am really intrigued about this Ivanising thing, so much so I emailed him to put my name down for one. Anyway it looks like a super forum and I am looking forward to getting to know the folks and I know I will need advice every now and then, thanks again David.

Do I need a power commander & FCE problem?
Posted by: silo - 25-06-13, 07:53 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

i am just getting the FZ1N sorted out. Brilliant bikes, and the third FZ I have owned - two gen 1's previously. Pilot road 3's, new brake fluid & AA pads, have fitted a road legal fuel exaust and K&N filter as the standard filter was manky and I am not a big fan of paper filters. Have not messed with the air box in any way.
Do I need a power commanded to stop the fuelling running too weak, or will the standard system cope ok? I do not rev the diddies off the bike - Usually keep revs between 5 - 8k on the bendy bits, and am not into high speeds as I have been done for doing three figures in previous years!
Fitted an Ivan's FCE but the ECU light came on. I am a qualified electrical assembler so no, it was not fitted incorrectly, or poorly crimped. I used the Ivan crimps I fitted to put back to standard and everything was OK. Any ideas why the light came on? the bike started and revved up ok, and the tickover dropped when it was connected. Have read something about starting it with the side stand up etc but what has the sidestand circuit got to do with the fuelling circuit? (nothing i would think!)
Any useful advice would be gratefully accepted. useful ideas about improving ground clearance would also be good as I am destroying the footpegs at a rapid rate, even with the shock set to a highish preload.
