Fatalities at the Southern 100 I.O.M
Posted by: lew600fazer - 11-07-13, 11:19 PM - Forum: Diesels and Lawnmowers (Bike racing n things) - No Replies

What is going on at the Southern 100 this week.
Sadly there has been 3 competitors killed. Two  solo's and a side car passenger,Paul Thomas , Mark Marsden Magdel and David Jukes. This is so sad.
Thoughts with the families of those who have been taken while doing something they loved.

After leaving on my indicators one too many times (thanks DeadEye) I decided I needed a foolproof way of remembering to turn em off.  So I bought one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250880649042?s...1439.l2649

Foc it's loud.  Practically louder than the flipping alarm.  Time will tell if it stays, gets sellotaped over, ripped out or whatever solution shows itself.

I have a brand new set available, bought them to use but went the hard luggage route so these have never been used, cost me £60 odd so any sensible offers and they are yours!

Thought I would treat he old girl (2004) to a few upgrades and changes as the sun is shining  Smile

Got the gold wheels from here after they had been through a few hands.

Zero Limits Carbon Sub Cowl and radiator covers, top quality but take ages to deliver. Wavy discs with Ferrodo pads, improves braking massively (feel and power). Not sure on the gold wheels, they are not gold or shiny enough, I think it might be Subaru wheel gold. MCT service and set up of K-Tech rebuilt forks, plus rear shock. Roadsmart 2's front and rear

Puig DB screen fitted last summer, ok to 85-90 after that head shake, though not too bad for noise.

Riders eye view with zero limits carbon infill panels. Gold screw on brace replace the original one fell out on way to MOT.

New MRA X-creen fitted to DB screen, I have had a MRA Vario but always thought the main screen was too small. This set up seems to work well and gives better results and less noise than Vario. More road testing required, but it was simple to fit (will fit to most screens)

New Chain and Sprockets next, followed by carbon side panels and airbox covers. Thinking of getting my other wheels carbon dipped and possible engine and frame covers too.

And if I can get on a ferry a ten day trip to Spain  Smile

  Brake Lever Jerky
Posted by: Andy Clap - 11-07-13, 08:39 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Over the last 2 weeks / 400 miles my front brake lever has gone from being smooth with little travel to very jerky/creaky with (it seems) a lot more travel.  At low speeds it's making the braking very on-off, hard to be smooth.

What do you reckon?

fox-eye model chainguard free if anyone wants/needs one - Has now been claimed.
Posted by: PhilClark - 11-07-13, 08:00 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (9)

Having sold my bike  :'(  I've now discovered the original chain guard I removed after fitting a rear hugger.

It's free to anyone that wants it, only cost would be postage if you don't want to/can't pick it up in person.

It's a bit sticky on the underside as you'd expect from chain lube flinging but it's all intact, just needs a couple of bolts.

It's going in the bin otherwise in a couple of days

  28k Service
Posted by: JoeRock - 11-07-13, 06:16 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (27)

Right guys, as my bike has now come up to 28k, decided I'm going to give it a full service. Got a list together, but was wondering if there was anything else that would likely need checking that isn't in the Hayes manual, or that should probably be done anyway?

Right, here goes:
-Strip and clean calipers, check pads, replace brake fluid and brake hoses for braided. Check the brake system as a whole, and the operation of the - brake lights.

-Check and regrease swingarm, suspension, wheel and steering bearings

-Check and lubricate clutch/gearshift/brake lever/brake peadl/sidestand/centrestand pivots and throttle/choke/clutch cables

-Check all electrical connections and clean with contact spray

-As I've still got my strange low down running symtoms (cutting out on cylinders beneath 5k ish revs), going to take the carbs apart and clean them up

-Check the fuel system and hoses

-Drain, flush, and replace the coolant

-Clutch is making quite a noise at the moment, heard of grumbly clutches before but mine is properly rattly, so going to be checking that as well

-Engine oil and filter change

-Clean and reoil air filter

-Change spark plugs and compression test

-Check CCT

-Carb balance and idle speed check

-Once I've done all that lot, I'm hoping that whatever is causing my strange low down running will stop. That said, probably going to go ahead and check the valve clearances anyway, just in case my bike is the one Fazer 6 that does need doing!

So, what have I missed?!

Alas, I'm selling 'Bee, there'll be a few bits up for grabs soon.
Posted by: Aegis Bearing Mel - 11-07-13, 05:40 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (5)

As I'm buggering off to Kiwi land in the immediate future I'm unfortunately having to sell both my bikes to fund the trip.
Shipping them over is just too expensive.

To that end I'll be putting 'Bee (and the wee DRZ400) back to standard to try and collect as many sheckles as I can.

So, just to gauge if anyone is interested in any of the following before I fleabay 'em?
I'll stick photos and prices up when I get them off, I'll be shipping them with parcel2go, so shouldn't be too expensive shipping wise.

The map and all the tuning gubbins are good for 146 brake, I've attached the wee graph thingy too.
Be willing to sell them all as a package if anyone wants.

R1 Radial master cylinder.

WP springs

PCV with custom map

Smaller 2y throttle butterflies.

Modified airbox with K&N filter

Homebrew Exup eliminator module

Full Titanium Micron system, internal and external matt black ceramic coating

HID upgrade.

Adjustable brightness Twin Spots.

I've bound to have forgotten something, but as I say it's just to gauge potential interest, I'll get photos up asap.

Cheers.

Aegis

Oh, if anyone wants to buy her or the DRZ, pm me and we can talk prices.
Big Grin
