  Hello from Cambridgeshire!
Posted by: stupidamerican - 18-09-13, 09:36 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (12)

Hello everyone,

Another American here. Long time member on the FZ1OA forum and since moving to the England I thought I would join your forum.

I've owned and ridden my Fazer (FZ1) since 2005. Rode a 600 SecaII before that - I think they are called Diversons over here.

So far I've been enjoying the motorcycle culture here in England and feel more comfortable riding on the other side of the road every time I'm out. Riding here is completely different from back in the states and I think by the time I leave the UK I should be a much better rider.

I have a bunch of question but I'll wait and start another thread.

Thanks for having me.

Someone seems to have got their priorities screwed up...

Quote:A driver who killed a Hampshire teenager in a road crash has today been jailed for six years.  Brian Hampton is today behind bars after being convicted of perverting the course of justice following the crash which claimed the life of Jade Clark.

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/10683279...___update/

But, if you read the article, he got four years for perverting the course of justice but only *two* years for death by careless driving!

Got a very interesting letter from aviva, my van insurers today. Apparently I hit a car parked on the hard shoulder of the m62 in my yellow sprinter van, reg na52 zbt on 29/08/2013.
So I phoned the lady up. She said it was polish nationals who claimed I wrote their car off, injured them, and stopped and gave my name as Allen porter. She also said she suspected it was a fraudulent claim as it happened a long way from home, my initials are PA Not AP and they are getting a massive amount of these types of claims, as the people instigating them are able to randomly enter registrations then getting details. Sadly for them, I was able to prove I was touring on my cb13 in the south of France at the time of the accident. Also, whilst my van is yellow on the log book, I had it painted white three years ago when I bought it, so sent her some photos of it in all it's rusting magnificence which kinda proves I ain't just repaired and painted it. Job done. The cheeky twats.... :eek

  Expenses Adding Up!
Posted by: nick crisp - 18-09-13, 02:30 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

The list is getting longer!:

Ivanising (this Sat, kit paid for, but got to pay Mike for doing)
ACF full treatment for winter.
Replace exhaust studs and nuts with new stainless items.
Service and copper-slip EXUP.
Probably could do with a basic service.
New rear tyre soon.
New (decent) boots and gloves required for winter.
Cosmetics - still want a decent belly pan, solid black screen & headlamp covers and want to find some bright led lights to mount under the front cowl "chin" somehow (might have this solved due to a helpful Foccer elsewhere on this forum (could seriously do with a bookmark system on the forum!)
Maybe (read most likely) next year now - R1 USD fork conversion and R6 rear shock mod.
A few more carbon dip bits.

Have I forgotten anything? Oh yeah, win the lottery (first)!

  Parking fine advice
Posted by: Tori - 18-09-13, 12:44 PM - Forum: General - Replies (45)

On September 8th, my camera club met at McDonalds in Colchester. Apparently they have a 90 minute limit on parking. I had no idea of that, although it is signed.
I have a £100 charge notice from MET parking services for over staying by 19 minutes. I think they're taking the piss to be fair. Can I challenge it/ignore it etc? I know supermarkets have charged folk before, but you can avoid paying the fine.

If I'd been sat there overnight, or hours and hours, I would of understood it. But we were inside, using their facilities!

Not happy!  :o
