  Sorting out forks
Posted by: Slaninar - 27-09-13, 07:46 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (17)

Been to a track day yesterday. Forks are too soft, dive too quick.

I'm 78 kg heavy. Are original springs OK? I was thinking of adding a 2 to 5 cm pieces of plastic tube, to preload springs to a bit better. Will that be smart? I'm not on a budget to pay for new springs, but want to make forks a bit stiffer. Not too much.

Also, should I then go for 15 w oil?  A mate who races said he would recommend 90w gear oil, or 15w50 engine oil - says 15 w will be too thin if I ad 4 cm more of preload.

Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas?

  Am I the only one.
Posted by: chris.biker - 26-09-13, 10:36 PM - Forum: General - Replies (20)

Am I the only one getting fed up with comments many from members not even there on the day. I have been in this group for more than five years and it is a very interesting group, with many sub groups. Some I only know from chat on here, others I have been on events with and hardly ever hear on here. I have been on two ride outs with the LOFOs, a newer set with energy and enthusiasm.
Riding a motor bike is a risky activity at the best of times but when the traffic on the road gets heavy the risks go up.  On the worst ride out I have ever been on it went wrong for a member but he survived; his bike and some cars suffered.
A motorcycle is ridden by only one person, its been said by another on this forum that you should  ride as if everybody is out to get you. On that note when I did my bit of further training it was made clear that if a car pulls out in front of you and you run into it see it as your failing. You should have been expecting it to pull out in front of you. Was I at fault that day I set off on an event with a young man who did not finish the ride on his bike, who I feel may have been a victim of his inexperience.
I was left shocked initially by the accident I saw.
I have written this because I am fed up with seeing one member trying to off load a bad move onto another member and I get an inclination this could be heading toward bullying and harassment. I am also not happy to see at best banter towards a member on this subject by member who was not even there on the day

  polishing plastics
Posted by: david095 - 26-09-13, 10:34 PM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

now here's a hypothetical question......

if one was to wash their bike and were to use a cloth not quite as soft as they thought it was, what would be the best way of restoring any  'minor multiple abrasions' to any previously more shiny pieces of plastic, hypothetically speaking .........

I'm afraid I've got bad news, I've put a deposit down on a new bike and am using the Fazer for PX.

I'll still come on here though, I enjoy the banter and I might need to keep my eye on the for sale section...

  fairing question
Posted by: solorider - 26-09-13, 06:54 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (16)

as you know the fazer thou fairing is not the best for protection, so has anyone managed to fit a better fairing off another bike or an aftermarket fairing? I don't want to get rid of the fazer for a better touring bike so would like a better fairing.

  Whining from front sprocket area
Posted by: Andy-Fazer-thou - 26-09-13, 05:26 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (14)

Hi All
I have recently got my Fazer 1000 all up and running again after a bit of a breakdown
just had to spend a fair bit of cash but up to now worth it.
BUT i have a whining from around the front sprocket (please dont let it be serious) i just lost my job
could anyone give me some advice on what it could be.
just had new clutch and springs and new chain and sprockets fitted but was whining before i had that done but seems little quieter since work was done
as front sprocket nut was loose common fault on fazers i been told the bike has done 58k but always been very well looked after.

thanks

Does anyone know a good program that I can download to enable me to attach a video to emails?  I'm trying to send a 600mb video.

Thanks in advance,    Mickey
