My bike had its original four year old Dunlop sportsmaxes front and rear when I got it. Despite having only done two thousand miles, and the roads still being warmish, they were useless, as they had predictably gone hard and assumed the stickiness of Teflon. Only just put new diablos on the cb, so hadta budget for keeping the fz1 on it's shite rubber until at least spring. But, as I've been messing about on the tuning side of it and subsequently doing lots of hard back road riding, it suddenly struck me 800 miles after getting it, it was gripping. Handling pretty good in fact. So started leaning a bit harder and getting on the throttle quicker out of bends. No slip! They have sorted themselves out somehow, I honestly wouldn't have believed it unless it had happened to me, but they've healed themselves, and are actually proving to be pretty good rubber, and despite the roads getting colder as autumn arrives I can actually get it over to the edge without having any " ooh ya fugger!!!" Moments..happy days
Oh yes, last day off so awake by 0315, it's gonna be a long day. :z
Hopefully get my bike back on the road, just need to change the rear brake fluid and tighten up the back wheel, yes must remember that one. Then do a walk around and check it all out. Maybe new tyres later if funds allow?
Just been out exploring on the bike for a few hours this afternoon. Back roads to Thetford forest then dirt tracks (byways) through the heathland and woods, getting covered in mud and totally lost. Eventually found a road and headed back home through town, plastered in mud and grinning like a lunatic as I carved through all the people in tin cans doing the rush hour grind lol!
Sometimes, if you are really lucky you find a bike that you just 'gel' with, and I reckon I've found mine.... (and it isnt a fazer lol)

Hi,
I might need to replace my OEM handlebars therefore it could be a good opportunity to improve on the standard fitment bars. So can anyone tell me the basics about Renthal bars? For example do they clear the tank & front fairing as the standard ones do? And what bar ends would I use as I need some weight to balance the luggage options I sometimes use?
.....and its a Mk2 Foxeye
