| To rebuild or break - from Malta |

Hi All!
Visiting FOC for some time now, first post, and unfortunately on a sad note.
I'm in the process of rebuilding my 2000 FZS600, and unfortunately found severely pitted forks (under fairing), as well as some rust on the frame. All three discs are also worn and need replacing and the fairing mount is bent probably due to a fall. (I have only had the bike for about 11 months). Paint is in slightly poor condition, and all carburetor inlet rubbers are cracked. Apart from that there is major servicing to do - rear calipers, valves, timing chain etc....
The engine, however is strong, starts first time round, and I never felt I needed any more power - this is my first bike (and what a bad deal it was, although I do like Fazers!).
TBH I always enjoyed riding it, but am wondering if I should spend my cash on a new ride? Would it be worth breaking it, especially considering in Malta there are not many Fazers, (I've only seen two others). I would need to sell on here or on Ebay,
Thank you very much for reading!
Stefan

Hi All!
Thought I'd share my ongoing project for a little criticism, hopefully a little praise and generally a touch of banter.
Bought in October this year.
[smg id=1233]
[smg id=1235]
From the off, it needed:
new chain and sprockets,
Fork Seals,
Back Tyre,
Oil Change,
Headlight Mod,
Engine repaint,
New Mirrors,
Downpipe replacement/repaint,
Carb Balance,
And a general deep clean and polish!!
But for £500 with 48k miles, and a couple of months MOT, I think it was a deal and a half.
And so the project (and the fun!) begins....

Ok difficuly one here
Mrs Snapper was hit by a lorry this morning not hard just scrapped the paintwork
but she was on her way to me so we could take the car for its first mot
but when she arrived at the factory where i work I had had a sh!tty morning and completely forgot to book said MOT
3 days out of date
below is her discription of events
now where do we stand let it slide ? scream and shout report to the police ?
she was driving down to my place of work so that i could follow her to MOT station. She commited herself to driving past a long line of parked cars, nothing was in sight as she committed. After passing 3/4s of them she saw a lorry coming up from other end and pushing forward. pulling as far left as possible she stopped her car. Lorry kept on coming, slowed and then pushed forward inch by inch, not allowing her any chance of trying to rectify situation and reverse back.
Lorry continued, all parking sensors beeping and she heard a small squeak, no bump was felt. The lorry eventually stopped and gave up moving, my wife then reversed cautiously (bearing in mind the parked cars and the lorry that she was squeazed between)
She managed to reverse a way and then went to pull in to a gap in parked cars. The lorry swung onto her side of road and again she waited for it to stop so that she could pull safely into the gap. The lorry then drove past her and off. She then continued her drive to my factory before checking the car over. The car now has a scrape on drivers side rear wheel arch that can only have been caused by the lorry.
Thats all simple enough, report it to police for them to be aware in case lorry driver tries to claim she caused damage
I know it wouldnt effect any insurance claims etc but will she get done for not driving it to an already booked MOT test?

As my barrel is getting very worn after 72k miles, the key can be pulled out with the ignition on, I know the 2003 on have a different switch, so I need to know can the switch part be swapped over? The reason I need to know is there are no 2001-2002 lock sets for sale but a few 2003 on lock seta.

Hey all!
Brand new Fazer rider. Finally joining the fraternity with the bike I ORIGINALLY wanted when I first passed the test 8 years ago.
It's a 2001 FZS600s in red Black and silver.
It was in a truly crap state so I got it for a song but I've loved fettling it almost as much as riding it. Helped hugely by all you kind folks on here.
So far i have:
Stripped and repainted the engine (including polished covers)
New back tyre
Stripped and polished the forks (while changing seals)
New chain and sprockets (17:46 gearing, last tank range 260 miles)
Fitted a hugger and fender extender
Balanced the carbs
And fitted an led DRL bar (traffic now parts like the red sea)
Still to come:
K&N air filter is in the post
As are the projector headlights and thou mirrors
And most excitingly, i'm halfway through a partial DIY carbon fibre vinyl wrap, which is actually going very well indeed!
The Red paint is horribly faded all over. So wherever there is red, will now be carbon.
And that's it.
Nice to meet you all.
Ps, pics to follow!

Just been watching F and F 6 and this time they're chewing up London. All good fun and nice to see a Jenson Interceptor being thrashed.
