  Colitis
Posted by: Simon.Pieman - 31-10-13, 09:11 AM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

I've just heard that an old mate of mine has been living with a condition called Ulcerative Colitis for the last five years and I am told that he is having quite a hard time with it just recently. He's been off the 'scene' for the last month at least, I havn't seen him and I'm beginning to worry about the guy. I was thinking of going over to visit and/or try to get him out of the house for a clay shoot or something (that's one of the things he always enjoyed) but some of the other guys in the pub (mutual friends) say he's not keen to be 'socially active' at the moment and is best left until he sorts himself out.
I've never heard of this condition before, but I had a good read about it on the internet last night though, it's an inflamed intestine that brings pain and sometimes embarressment and it sounds awful, I wasn't surprised he has stayed indoors all this time, I would find it impossible to live with.
My scientist girlfriend says there is no cure but she says some people help themselves with all sorts of herbal teas and various 'snake oil' remedies, there's very little else to do. I would like to do something to help, I guess just visiting would be a start.
Has any foccers had experience of this illness?  Perhaps have a friend or relative with it who have ideas on how best to cope?

  Z1000SX MCN comparision test

Kawasaki Z1000SX v Honda CBF1000F v Suzuki GSX1250FA | Group Test | Motorcyclenews.com
Why did Yamaha not get a mention, I know when the SX MK1 came out the FZ1 was used as the bench mark as a one on one test but not this time round. Kawasaki are now dominating this area of the market. I had a Z1000SX for nearly 3 years and can honestly say it was the most fun bike I ever owned, the 2014 model will take some beating, I still think the FZ1 performance wise would give the SX a run for it's money but ??? have Yamaha anything going today that is not old hat, not knocking the FZ1 but she is an aging beauty.
As a past CBF owner I posted this on there forum as well, I knew it would really wind them up especially the comment about rides like a Big Scooter, Oh the outrage from some on there

back to bikes on a fazer 600,
Posted by: pilgo - 30-10-13, 11:58 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (7)

hi all,

well, after 8 years away from biking,i found myself in a position to get back on the road again,so being the cautious old git that i am,i did a 2 hour 'back to bikes' session with a local bike trainer, he provided the bike which was a 600 fazer and i instantley felt at home on it. my last bike was a thunderace 1000 so the fazer is a lot lighter and the sit up and beg riding position really suited me. so the plan to get a bandit/hornet went out the window as i knew i wanted a fazer,so after searching the web for a few days,i kept going back to one bike in particular,at a dealers in cardiff, which i brought last friday and is being dropped to my gaff in deep dark zummerset tomorow!! im like a kid waiting for christmas here  Smile

being a complete PC numpty,im unable to put up a picture of it,but we all know what  a black 2001 fazer looks like. it has a rear hugger, rack, front fender extender thingy, and stainless down pipes on 14,500 miles.

things to do to it are braided front brake hoses, tank harness,Quill exhaust (the one that sounds sweet but is legal) and maybe a double bubble screen. oh,and ride it as much as possible!!  :lol

look forward to getting lots of tips off here,i already know that the front lights have candels in where the bulbs should be and ive not even riding in the dark yet,see how good you guys are to us newbie's?

  New Fazer Owner - Northampton

Hi all,

My name is Ollie. I have been riding motorbikes for over 7 years now and have just changed to a Fazer. The majority of my biking experience has been the odd weekend ride on my Dad's 1995 Honda VT Shadow 600, possibly only doing 1000 miles a year (if that). I decided to buy my first big boy bike last year and went for a 2002 Honda Hornet 600.

I loved the bike, it rode really nicely and was plenty powerful for me! However, I use it commute to work. This journey to work is about 1 hour for me and after an hour in the saddle I found my backside started getting a little raw! This coupled with the fact that my girlfriend has expressed interest in going on a biking holiday next year, I decided to find something more touring capable. Hence, the Fazer.. In an ideal world, I would have gone for something bigger (1000cc+) but for insurance purposes, I thought that sticking to a 600 would aid affordability.

I am very happy with the Fazer.. Comfort is greatly improved over the hornet and I am now able to fit Givi panniers (hornet would not take these due to the exhaust).

I am a little lonely in the biking world as I dont have any friends who also bike, therefore I am always looking for new contacts in the nearby area who go out for rides every now and again. Let me know.

Thanks,

Ollie

  track day leathers
Posted by: taksi - 30-10-13, 11:12 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Hi guys I'd like a bit of info please. I've been given a track day next year as a 65th birthday prezzy and my leathers are a  Spada Magma 2-piece leather suit. Is this suitable or if not is it possible to hire a suit at the circuit. I don't want to shell out for another suit. I'll be on my '08 fz1 fazer.

Ta very much

Taksi
