  Engine Replacement
Posted by: humbucker88 - 01-11-13, 11:11 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Evening guys, just wondering if anyone can tell me if I'd need any special tools to swap out my engine? Will I need something to lift the engine or can I get a friend to help me lift it in and out?

Hi All

I know I havent been on here much recently, mainly becuase I go on the forum at work through my phone, and tapatalk hasnt been working on this site for aaagess.

Anywhoo, I have just done a deal to trade in my FZS600 for a F800ST 2008 .

I am getting £1100 for my fazer, which is a cheeky deal considering its done 19,500 miles and its basically new looking!

I will still be about for ride outs! just on my slower taller Beamer! Sad Smile

  Rocker cover water pipes
Posted by: esetest - 01-11-13, 08:34 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

What is the best way to remove the water pipes going into the rocker cover , I have had a look and it seems you need to remove the radiator filler unit , pull that off with the pipe attached , then remove the bracket bolted to the frame in order to gain some leverage to remove the two short water pipes .
Thanks in advance for any advice given .

  TDM 850 for sale
Posted by: stevierst - 01-11-13, 07:09 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (22)

I've only had the bike a couple of weeks, and it's not for me. I want another streetbike (fazer maybe)
It's a 97 tdm 850 in yellow/silver.
42k, (this is nothing for a TDM)
Mot April 2014
6 months tax
Valve clearances just done,
S/S 2 into 1 exhaust + headers
Renthal 992 bars
Iridium d/b screen
Givi rack
Spada top box
Avon Roadrunner tyres pretty much as new.
Aftermarket shock ( It's an old one but is still good. Just redone bottom bush)
Rear wheel bearings just done.

This is a superb bike for winter Commuting, but it's just not for me.
I'm after £1300 as this is what I paid before the mods.
I would like to replace it with a 500cc+ streetbike such as a fazer.: Smile
I'm in the Blackpool area
Pm me or call 07786265794.

  Patio laying
Posted by: phil on a fazer - 01-11-13, 04:47 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

Hi guys

Ive half layed the 2nd patio in my garden (its a three tiered steep garden). i layed half of it using 600X600 Ryton Riven slabs on a strong wet bed (full bed, not spots)

I then hurt my back and couldn't lay any more. Then i hurt my ankle...so couldn't carry on with it.  :rolleyes  the last 2 weeks have been wet and just as it was starting to dry up....its rained again!

My problem: well its getting colder, cant be that far off frosts now. I want to lay the rest when the ground has dried out, but mortar doesnt really like frost does it??? ive done bits of repair work in winter before and always covered the work with blankets / plastic sheeting to protect the the mortar from the frost.

I know you can get additives for the mortar & the whole UK building trade doesn't stop for winter. So is it a case of using these additives in the mortar and covering the patio up once laid or are there other tricks that i'm missing???

Thanks

  speedo suddenly stopped working
Posted by: clayt74 - 01-11-13, 04:44 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi my 2002 600 speedo has suddenly stopped working and reads zero all the time.
I suspect its the lug at the front wheel cos at my last tyre change they said it had a few bits broken.
Anyone got any idea as to a part number or drawing that I can refer to to order the correct part?
I shall investigate the problem tomorrow to make sure it is the lug
Thanks in advance

  Very new owner in Oldham
Posted by: Offtheclockuk - 01-11-13, 10:43 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (26)

So new I haven't bought the bike yet!

I'm James, and I've been trying to decide on a civilized replacement for my drz400,

There's a couple of nice fzs600's on fleabay at the moment, one of which is only 3 miles from my house,
It's a metallic red, V plate "99" with just under 14k ont clock, I'm going to look at it today but it looks mint in the pictures, thing is the price, £2295 is it worth it?

Also a metallic blue 2001 with only 3k on the clock which without a doubt is completely mint.
Which is priced at £2499, but it's in Wolverhampton,

I'm torn between them, any suggestions from the wise old sages of the forum?

I'm going to buy one of them and I'll be well behaved and totally shameless in by begging for info and cheap parts, so no doubt will be a popular member hahaha!

Any advise is more than welcome, thanks guys (and gals) if there are any?

James

  Changing the handlebars?
Posted by: thunderpantz - 01-11-13, 10:00 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi all, thinking of changing the bars on the fzs600 to a set of renthals. How difficult is this to do for someone with limited bike knowledge?

Thanks in advance chaps
