A lot of people seem to have used these on the thou, has anyone tried one on the FZ6, I've just bought an S2 and I don't think a Power Commander III is available, has to be a PC V which is very expensive. Juice box is a lot cheaper but is it any good?

  Oil change failed
Posted by: Countdown - 02-11-13, 04:37 PM - Forum: General - Replies (17)

I give up the oil filter ain't budging  :'(

I had a strap wrench that wouldn't work and then in a moment of stupidity I put a screwdriver through it to try and turn it and that failed, if I kept going with the screwdriver I would have no filter left, there is still enough shape to it to perhaps remove the filter with a decent tool.

Need to order a tool online any suggestions?  If the sump plug  bolt is anything to go by the filter is stuck on pretty well, I had to use a breaker bar to remove  the sump plug :'(

  short levers
Posted by: lincs1963 - 02-11-13, 03:42 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Hi guys.
Has anyone had any experience of these 'cnc machined short brake and clutch levers'?
I have looked at other peoples and spoken to owners of machines fitted with these and most people seem pretty happy with them. I also asked where folks got them from and some were bought from UK suppliers and some from China, Hong Kong etc, but in the flesh they are all identical. Anyway I went ahead and ordered a set from China. Very happy with the quality, and the brake lever was a straight swap, however the clutch lever is another story. It went on ok but the cable was not running in a straight line, it was necessary to shim the pivot point by about 12mm and machine some alloy off the lever to make everything line up. The only real problem now is that the microswitch that prevents starting the engine without pulling in the clutch is not in use, you can start the engine with the clutch out and in gear.
Not too bothered as they were under £20 inc postage, I have looked at pazzo and ASV levers and they also don't appear to operate the microswitch.

TL/DR short story how have others gone about fitting these levers, and are you happy with them?
Cheers, Neil

  Differences between Mk1 FZS6 models
Posted by: twosheds - 02-11-13, 12:46 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

Is there any real advantage in buying the later models with the bigger fuel tank etc or is the original 1998 model perfectly acceptable please,

any views/opinions on the pros and cons of the variations and which to go for would be welcome as I am considering buying an FZS6 bike.

Got this from Wikipedia:-1998: Yamaha FZS600 Fazer launched.

  • 1999:
  • 2000: Yamaha FZS600 Fazer S Introduced several minor changes including larger fuel tank, improved pillion comfort and preload adjustment on front shocks.
  • 2001: Several cosmetic changes, including carbon look instrument panel and painted fork sliders.
  • 2002: Yamaha FZS600 Fazer New front fairing design, nicknamed "Foxeye". Improvements included new fairing design similar to the FZS1000, sculpted tank and new instrument panel.
  • 2004: Yamaha FZS600 Fazer discontinued.
