Hi, I need to overhaul rear brake caliper of my 2002 Fazer, the original paint is coming off in large flakes.
Any recommendations for best paint to use on it?
cheers Dave

Just wanted to share this with the forum. The Yamaha "Foxeye" front nose cone has significantly reduced in price. Yamaha have updated all there prices. Its been reduced from £450 to £180, If you don't believe me check with your local Yamaha dealer. When they acutally place the order they will see the revised price. of £180...Ring Yamaha UK also if you are in doubt. The price is £180 not £450....

Hi Folks
Started out on a little TZR way back when, upped to a Thundercat which I loved to bits, and then sold everything to do Uni. After that, picked up an SV650 on the cheap to get me about, but missed the smoothness of the 'cat, so when presented with this beauty, I couldn't resist!

I'm really digging the black/gold colour scheme, the more upright riding position, and that familiar notch between first and second. She's got just under 20k miles on the clock, a Blue Flame twin-outlet exhaust, and cosmetically she's well looked after. Mechanically sound as well, aside from a blow on the downpipes, and a squared-off back tyre. There's a lot of history with her, as well as original keys, toolkit ect so I've a lot of confidence, and unlike the SV she starts flawlessly on the button whatever the weather.
Next steps are looking at the front sprocket nut, as there's nothing to reflect that's been done, look at welding or replacing the downpipes, a solid set of engine bars (Yam OEM? Renntec? Ebay?) and some new shoes front and back in the shape of Pilot Road III's.
Would love to hear any other advice for a new owner, things to look out for ect, or even just confirmation that the gold ones are in fact the fastest

| Gen 1 leaky rear master cylinder |

I am currently in the process of giving my Gen 1 a deep clean and a bit of a service etc. I fitted a rear 'Venhill' brake line to it today, as I did the fronts a few days ago, and then set about the arduous task of bleeding her up. I managed to get nice fresh, bubble free fluid from both bleed nipples on the rear calliper but I still wasn't happy with the lever pressure. There was too much travel in the lever before the real pressure started.
After about an hour of pumping the pedal and bleeding at the calliper end I gave up. I inspected for leaks and saw a slight misting of fluid around the base of the rubber boot that sits at the bottom of the rear master cylinder (the bit where you adjust the lever height). Its not dripping out and you really have to push your finger into the underside of the boot to get a minute amount of it on your digit, however, i'm guessing its new master cylinder repair kit time ?
I just wanted to know before shelling out the £56 that AJ Suttons have the repair kit listed for :'(
I can't really say what the lever pressure was like before I fitted the new brake line and bled it, as I haven't ridden the bike for a while due to using my boxeye for most of last year. It was fine when I last used it obviously. The Gen 1 has only done 10,000 miles so I am a bit surprised that a 'Brembo' part has failed within this mileage.
Has anyone else had similar issues at this mileage and am I right in thinking a repair kit is required ?
Thanks in advance.

| Why did you choose a Fazer8 / FZ8 over either a 600 or 1000 |

Can I just ask, why did people choose a Fazer8 / FZ8 over either a Fazer 600 or 1000
I'll assume that you wouldn't have been interested in the Carb version of both, but interested to hear reasons.
Also anyone who chose over make/model bike
I've also been looking @ Street Triples, (really did like) BMW F800R, & Honda CBR600F
Am also looking @ var. others but haven't yet ridden.
I have a FZS600, and am looking to change, but love my bike, but it needs money spending on it, and it doesn't get on with cold cold days, (I know how it feels!)
If I spend the money, I won't get it back, and I'd quite like something newer and safer (ABS) and non carbs.
I wish it was a simple as;
600 Good
800 Better
1000 Even Better
