Back on a 'Yam, first ever Fazer! - Gryph - 09-02-14

Hi Folks

Started out on a little TZR way back when, upped to a Thundercat which I loved to bits, and then sold everything to do Uni. After that, picked up an SV650 on the cheap to get me about, but missed the smoothness of the 'cat, so when presented with this beauty, I couldn't resist!

I'm really digging the black/gold colour scheme, the more upright riding position, and that familiar notch between first and second. She's got just under 20k miles on the clock, a Blue Flame twin-outlet exhaust, and cosmetically she's well looked after. Mechanically sound as well, aside from a blow on the downpipes, and a squared-off back tyre. There's a lot of history with her, as well as original keys, toolkit ect so I've a lot of confidence, and unlike the SV she starts flawlessly on the button whatever the weather.

Next steps are looking at the front sprocket nut, as there's nothing to reflect that's been done, look at welding or replacing the downpipes, a solid set of engine bars (Yam OEM? Renntec? Ebay?) and some new shoes front and back in the shape of Pilot Road III's.

Would love to hear any other advice for a new owner, things to look out for ect, or even just confirmation that the gold ones are in fact the fastest  Wink

Oh, seems you've covered that already  :lol .

Since its a box eye the headlights will emit NO more light than a candle, best place to start is the double headlight mod and I hear osram nightbreaker bulbs are a good step too.

take care to look after that rear caliper, they're known for seizing and sticking and being shite in general, a good upgrade is to steal one from one of the thou owners, its more ethical to steal a one off a blue thou since theyre slower than a 600!

Welcome  :thumbup

Thanks for the welcome there! Duly noted on the lights, they were a bit crap on the 'cat too so know what to expect. Will def. be looking at doing the dual light mod as 90% of my riding will be to and from work in Cardiff traffic, so extra visibility is always a plus. Also had been eyeing nightbreakers for a while, so went ahead and ordered a pair off the 'bay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161193682331 - limited edition gold tips to match the bike  :lol

Hey Gryph, welcome aboard and welcome to another welsh resident foccer. :thumbup

If you are up for meets in the summer then there's a growing welsh contingent over the last year but so far we havent managed many rideouts so the more the merrier, some of the English guys have been completing cross border attacks with big smiles on their faces.

there's a member map along the top tool bar that you can stick a pin on the map for to help others organise rideouts.

Sounds like you've maybe been lurking on the site for a while as you are clued up but if you have any queries then first of all there's the search bar along the top which should throw up a wealth of info on most subjects.Get stuck in, there's plenty banter. 8)

cheers

Seems like a thousand years ago  :\

Welcome to the forum Gryph.

Got to get a good Welsh group going this year, come on you Dragons, get your act together!
Need a camping/riding meet at some point.
My compass now points mainly west for summer, lets rival Lofos (speaking as a hopefully accepted honorary Welsh Foccers member from the Unmentionables, i.e., England  :lol  )
