First Fazer and hi from Kent
Posted by: clunkie66 - 18-02-14, 02:20 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (3)

Hi all,
Just bought my first Fazer and am delighted with it so far. It's a Fazer thou on an 03 plate, although it has high-ish mileage - 52k - it's very, very clean and has been well maintained - all the stamps in the book, a stack of receipts and old MoTs.

It's a do everything bike for me: local commuting, weekend toy and tourer - planning a 2k mile european trip with a few mates in June.

Below are some pics, it needs a wash as it p****d down when I collected it last night. First impressions are very comfy, very quick and stable - much more engaging ride than my last bike, a ZX6R...

Cheers and looking forward to being active on the forum.

  Start commuting now?
Posted by: cfoley - 18-02-14, 12:22 PM - Forum: General - Replies (23)

I went to a dealer at the weekend and took a bike for a test ride. I'm not buying but it was my first ride of the year and I loved it!

I want to get my fazer out but I'm worried about ruining it. it's a 98 model, has under 4K miles and is in pristine condition. The roads are a bit slippy at the moment so I know to be careful but what really worries me is the salt on the roads causing rust. I definitely bought the bike to use it (commuting and fun) but I could wait till mid march and all that salt will be gone. It's only a couple of weeks away.

What would you do? Take the bike out or sit tight? And is there anything I can do to protect it from salt and rust?

  Project Fazer: The build thread
Posted by: ChristoT - 17-02-14, 10:32 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (232)

All threads should start with a song... And what better song (knowing me) than Tubthumping?  :lol :lol
Tubthumping (I Get Knocked Down) Lyrics

Right! Bike time.  Smile

So, yesterday, I picked up what is soon to be my new steed! A T-reg, silver Fazer 600. In bits. But hey, got to start somewhere, and for £250, that's a pretty good start.

[smg id=1670]

Argh! Peugeot, stop eating my bike!!  :rollin

[smg id=1671]

As you might be able to see, it is a complete bike. And stainless pipes too, which is a nice bonus! For the curious, here's the listing:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/yamaha-fazer-6...true&rt=nc

And the LoFos may remember I vanished off on a (not so) secret mission on the annual meet a fortnight ago. And it was to pick this bad boy up:
[smg id=1673 type=preview align=center caption="Bros swingarm"]

The plan is to fit that to the back end. I also plan (eventually) an upside down forks front end. I also plan twin underseat exhausts, the Foxeye tank, mucking around with LEDs in the head and tail lamps, and maybe even the Tokyo Racer oil cooler (as Deefer assures me the plumbing won't be as bad as I thought). Memory bump:

A neatened rear fairing goes without saying (as it will also be accomodating the under seat exhausts). I think I know which bike the curved radiator is from, so that might be on the cards. Other mods include K&N pod filters and an interesting paint job.  8)

Speaking of which....  Big Grin

A plan I have which I want to implement is a "sponsor" style thing. This bike is going to be built with a lot of help from Foccers (well, I hope so, unless Micky uses his new powers to ban me!!  :b ). So, my plan is this: If you contribute anything to this project: time, space, parts, money; anything basically, you get to put your name, forum username, or logo of choice on the bike at the end of the project asd part of its paint job, like the sponsor stickers on a race bike. These will be on the tank, the tail fairing, and the bellypan (as I plan to fit another one). And obviously, there'll be a nice, big FOC-U logo across the front!  Big Grin

The project's only just started, but there's already a list of sponsors with prime sticker rights! This list will be updated throughout the project too (for my memory, if nowt else!!)

Updates soon...  8)

Sponsor Foccers:
Red98 (carried over for help with the last bike :\ )
Bozboz
BigBlueBear
Deefer666
Rusty Rider
Apage16
Punkstig
