Classic bikes at a modern meet
Posted by: ChristoT - 18-02-14, 10:48 PM - Forum: Diesels and Lawnmowers (Bike racing n things) - No Replies

Moto Journal, the French MCN have a resident ex-racer / riding expert: Serge Nuques. In this video, he brings a load of 80s and 90s bikes to the Scorpion Masters challenge (off road, supermoto and track), and challenges modern bikes.

It helps if you speak French! If not, just enjoy the BRAAAAAAP! as he moves off. And despite his technical problems, I think his final score will surprise you...  Wink

  Sat Nav Mount
Posted by: Devic - 18-02-14, 09:49 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (15)

Hi all, been a while since I have been on due to various things going on in my life and not having chance to get on-line much.

Sold my 1999 FZS600 Fazer last week and picked up a low mileage 2007 FZ6 S2 on Thursday and got a question about how various people have mounted sat navs. I still have an old Garmin Quest with a ram mount, does the job for me and been able to fit it to every bike I have had as it clamps around the handle bars, this how ever is a problem as the FZ6 S2 has the center of the bars covered with a cover that is bolted in place with the handle bar mounts.

I've got heated grips fitted with the controls on the left, can't really go that side anyway as it would block the speedo view and not really got any room on the right so was looking for something to fit flat in the center of the bars, I know the ram mount does a square fitting with a ball on but it's not big enough.

I have had a look round on-line and seen some Givi and Buffalo bags that's use Velcro straps, I went to a local shop today and tried the Buffalo but it was about 2 inches too wide and seemed a little large being probably 5 inches deep.

I would like to fit the sat nav in the center of the bars on the flattish piece with the Yamaha logo on it, this is what I tried today but was slightly too big:

Wondered if anyone had any suggestions on mounting options or how they mounted sat navs on the S2?

Thanks

  Fork oil change
Posted by: dazza - 18-02-14, 09:20 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (11)

Hello Foccer's, after reading a thread somewhere where Mike (Falcon) referred to damage caused by not changing the front fork oil regularly got me thinking I need to change mine. So,  what's the easiest way to do this ? Can I do it with them in place ? Are they drain holes located at the bottom of the stanchions ? What's the recommended oil ? Is it worth changing the springs to Ohlins to complement the rear while I'm at it ? Sorry for the barrage of questions but I've never felt that confident when it comes to working on front forks for some reason. Any advice much appreciated.

  PETITION!!!
Posted by: ddtwelve - 18-02-14, 08:48 PM - Forum: General - Replies (49)

Hi Guys.
I have just cut n pasted this from the Explorer forum.

I received this from John Mitchell National Chairman/South East Region Representative of the Motorcycle Action Group earlier today:

You may have heard about the death of Jade Clark, a 16-year-old who was
killed when she was hit by Brian Hampton, on the A31 while on her moped
travelling to work in February 2013. Banned for drink-driving at the
time, Hampton not only didn’t stop, but he then attempted to cover up
his involvement by having his car repaired and lying to his family. He
was sentenced to six years in prison – two for causing Jade’s death by
careless driving and four years for perverting the course of justice.

He has now decided to appeal his sentence because he thinks it too
severe. MAG thinks he should be locked up and the key thrown away.

This petition was created by Robert Parker when he heard the news. So
far it has just over a thousand signatures which is not enough. It needs
10,000 to get noticed; and 100,000 to get to the point where it can’t be
ignored.

I would like to see it get that 100,000 signatures. Every signature counts.

You’ll find it at http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/56314

Feel free to sign or not as you see fit...personally, I've signed it although I think jail is too good for him.

  Front wheel issue
Posted by: Kentish - 18-02-14, 08:31 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

Hello all, I noticed whilst I had my bike up on the paddock stands and spun the front wheel it only rotates about one turn? I stripped the calipers put in new seals cleaned all the pistons so they were like new. With the calipers off the wheel spins a lot more freely, the discs are not warped as I hooked up a new pair that I have on another wheel and it still done the same. Am I going mental or its this normal? I get about one whole revolution of the front wheel when I spin it.

Pads are pretty worn I guess. Help me!!

On way to the Starbucks to do some college work and I filter between lane 2 and 3 to the front of stationary traffic. Two panda police cars in lane three, who it seems were not impressed as he tried to fight me for lane three, can't of seen a bike before. Further up the road a pelican crossing goes to red so I slow to keep crawling and he almost goes into the back of me, then I spot a spanner on the road and go to the right of it thinking ill miss it, nah Fuck it, stop swipe in the pocket and I filter away. Only a 12mm ratchet spanner! Going under the seat it is! [Image: a9ahybyg.jpg]

Top it off I got 5 shots of espresso for the price of 4 Big Grin

  Bike Knocked over at Work
Posted by: Tefer - 18-02-14, 04:23 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (23)

Somebody at work has knocked my FZS600 over. I have her contact details.

Should not cost to much to put right, might be better to do it without the insurance?
