Bike won't start noise from ignition switch?
Posted by: NitramA - 18-04-14, 03:49 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

Hi,

I wonder if anyone might be able to help me.
I've a Gen 1 Fazer 1000 with 9000 miles on the clock.
Planned to go for a ride this morning to enjoy the sunshine and it wouldn't start - the old starter solenoid clicking but not actually turning the motor over problem.
Thought it might be the fact that I'd not charged the battery, even though I'd used it last week with no problems, so I put it on charge.
Took about 10 minutes before the charger showed a full charge, so I don't think its the battery. (might be wrong of course)

Whilst I was messing around looking for a fault I noticed that when I switch the ignition on there is a crackling from the base of the ignition switch for 10 seconds or so then a click from the starter solenoid. Then the crackling stops.

I've looked at the plugin connector from the switch at the solenoid end and it looks free from corrosion.

Soooo I guess I'll have to remove and clean all the connections, but before I do I wondered if the collective knowledge here might be able to tell me its the 1st dooda on the left that's faulty and save me some time. I might even get out  before the good weather comes to an end!!!

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

thanks.

  Offered: FZS600 Front Fairing
Posted by: Tefer - 18-04-14, 02:08 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (7)

Hi,

My bike was involved in an accident about a month ago. The dozy woman at work reversed her car in to my bike, knocking it over. The damage was mainly the pillion footpeg hanger and my front fairing. I have bought a replacement fairing for my bike and its now fitted (minus stickers).
I was going to offer my old one up to the forum, no cash just postage costs, if it helps? The fairing is Gold or Deepish Yellow Red as Yamaha call it, its a Boxeye 99 model. I will post pictures of the damage when I get a chance, its not at mine just now. I also need to use it to make sure i get my stickers lined up correct.
There is a  patch of deep scratching at the front along with a broken infill clip, I have all of the clip so might be possible to plastic weld? I had it glued before.

Would there be any interest in this? If not I'll be binning it or see if any other forums have use for it.

Cheers

Has anyone had any success in finding a retailer that supplies silicone hoses, mine are getting a bit old and will need replacing before giving way out on the road. I have tried SFS, and other sites online but no joy. Sad

  Film competition
Posted by: slimwilly - 18-04-14, 08:39 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Now quite a few Foccers have cameras how about a "Film competition" with the idea of perhaps a single piece of road,1/2 to 1 mile long filmed with no edited out bits,,maybe change of camera veiw resuming at the point of change each angle.

Something along the lines of

1= Max of one minute.
2= No edited out bits,( take out boring bits, straights)
3= Comp ends ,,,,say 10th May

The idea is to find the best 1 mile stretch of biking road.

how about it.

SFS Silicone coolant hose group buy
Posted by: Chris - 18-04-14, 04:31 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (34)

Hi all,

This thread is just for people to put down their names for the Silicone coolant hose kits from SFS performance.

Any discussion about the pipes etc should be held in the original thread (here: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,6189.0.html ) or it will get too confusing as to who is wanting a kit and who's asking what etc...

The kits will most likely be around £130 to £140 but I will confirm the exact price when I can. But budget for that. A colour list can be found on the SFS website to help you choose. http://www.sfsperformance.co.uk/index.asp

We need 10+ people for the group buy so please add your names below with a comment stating what colour you would like and I will add you to the list in this post.

1. emjaydee - blue
2. Tefer
3. PeeGee - blue
4. scratch it - blue
5. Jules-C - black
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Any questions please PM me or post in the other thread.

For those who haven't seen them this is what they look like on my bike:
