  Shetland Focers!
Posted by: Chris - 21-04-14, 10:40 PM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

Well, it finally happened! I met someone else from the forum!

Yesterday Sunday the 20th was of course Easter Sunday. The Zetland Motorcycle club had an easter egg run to three of the care homes on the island. There were over 30 bikes in all and it was a brilliant day, gorgeous weather, great bunch of bikers and doing something nice for the older people in our community.

Anyway, myself and Soapy managed to both make it on the run.

Here's a pic of John (Soapy) and myself (Chris... surprisingly)

And just to prove we do have bikes then here is Soapy next to his red fazer with my blue fazer next to it.

A great day out and a pleasure to have met you mate! I do hope to meet more of you fine people at some point too! If you ever fancy a trip up to Shetland then get in touch!!

Going for a bit of a mini Europe tour - any suggestions?
Posted by: papercutout - 21-04-14, 09:46 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

So, obviously I've got the right bike for the job haven't I? A FZS600. Upright, comfy, smooth etc.

Well, except for the noisy end can, lack of faring and 'ultra low' bars! (mine has been converted to naked...)

So, I'll be riding to Norway later this summer, then down into Germany, possibly then further into Germany, and maybe all the way to Barcelona before I come back home. Besides a Satnav, what essentials would you all recommend taking? Certain tools? Luggage carriers? Particular service items?

Thanks

FZ1 Penske 8981 rear shock SOLD
Posted by: DekF - 21-04-14, 08:58 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (8)

For sale a top quality rear shock for the gen2.
Preload, adjustable ride height, rebound damping & remote compression adjuster.
It needs a service before use (about £100) but is in immaculate condition otherwise.
I've attached a google pic for reference.
It cost me over £500 so am looking at £160 +£20 postage or best offer.
cheers

  33 BHP restrictor Kit FZS600 1998-2004
Posted by: para300 - 21-04-14, 08:48 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hi there, for sale below

Restrictor kit for an FZS600  1998-2003 model

33BHP restriction is applied to the bike when fitted

I purchased this kit from kickstart engineering please see other Kickstart kits for sale on ebay for further information.

They fit between / slotted into the air intake rubbers and the carburetors. I got mine installed by a local motorcycle garage and it cost me £20.00
NOTE: There is no  legal requirement to have a certificate of fitting for the kit.If you have a 33bhp restricted licence it is law that you should only ride a bike up to 33bhp.This kit was manufactured to restrict a Standard FZS600 Fazer 1998-2003 model to 33bhp.
£25.00
Any questions, please let me know.

  Overflow pipe?
Posted by: hightower - 21-04-14, 04:23 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Another thread, but hopefully a quick answer for you all.

You know the little rubber bowl under the tank that I think is supposed to catch overflow? That connects to a metal bracket that also holds the airbox on at the front. However, should that metal bracket then have a pipe coming off it? And if so, to where? Just mine hasn't, never has - I guess anything out the overflow will just dump straight down on the engine - should it run to the carb or something instead?

  Back brakes problems
Posted by: Stainless_Titanium - 21-04-14, 03:04 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Hey, just been workin on my fazer's back brake, of which the pads are dead (no biggy) and the pistons are seized in (big biggy), so had a look at google for prices of new pistons to find some of the topics on the old site about fitting a Fazer 1000 caliper of the same age to the back of the bike.

Currently crawling ebay for one but just a wonder if it was still worth a shot as I'm lookin at about £100 probs to sort out the caliper i currently have if i can pull the bastard pistons out.

cheers

  Ticking?
Posted by: hightower - 21-04-14, 02:11 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (32)

Need some help. Bike is fired up and sounds good - I need to sort downpipes as smoke coming out at head slightly (I think it must just not be sealed tight enough?)

Anyway, is it me or is my engine ticking/chugging or does it sound fine?
