  Gearchange feels different (clunky)
Posted by: mickvp - 29-05-14, 09:01 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (12)

Yesterday morning on the way home my gearchange felt different from normal. It seems to he much more clunky than usual, especially from 1st to 2nd (both up and down the box). Almost feels like there is more free play in the lever (although it's tight, I've checked).

I did notice tonight after washing it that the chain feels like it has a little more free play than I would like, is it possible this is my issue? I never got time to tighten it before work and I don't have tools with me to do it whilst here... Just thought I would ask you guys as I assume it's something one of you will have experienced before?

Oh, I checked my oil level too, and did put a little oil in, but the issue was the same going to work tonight.

Any thoughts?

Bollocks about the dogs,,,what about my friggin BEES
Posted by: slimwilly - 29-05-14, 08:53 PM - Forum: General - Replies (54)

About a month ago we could hear this strange animal noise all night,,,sometimes, alot of times,,,we go used to it.

well it got worse and worse,,then we noticed a bee buzzing noise agianst out bedroom ceiling.
so , yes there is a Bumble bees nest up there,,we can spot them going in and out under the eves,,llittles tiny ones, cute really.

so we put up with it for a month,,now there are friggin huge bimble bees going in the eves,,and also lots of the tiny ones.

THe buzzing is very loud and annoying,

So i went up the loft with torch and tennis bat,,,looked around ,,nothing,,but i noticed the cieiling board are not plasterboard but a kind of soft fibre board.and if you touch it , it passed sound well.

It got worse , i git the step ladders and put my ear up to the cieling near the corner,,hell !!!!!!!!!! :eek ,,you could hear thousands of little buzzing bees. :'(

They are in and under the fibreglass insulation...

So i purchased some wasp killing powder and taped a pipe to it and went up there,,, :evil
Crept across the beams,,and half covering the torch beam,, i wiggled the pipe through the fibre glass, and puffed the powder into and under the insulation,,,well what a fucking noise,,,sounds like a million bastards,,,none showed above the insulation,,so i injected in two more places....and got the hell out of there.

in the bedroom, the noise of the buzzing was amazing..

two days later,,,still a bit of buzzing,,i am the thinking maybe they are dying,,i git the step ladders up agian,,slapped the ceiling, making the bees bounce,,,fuck,,they went mad again,,,still thousands there,,so tonight i have been up there again,,,puffing powder under the insulation,,,hell thenoise,,not one be came up through the insulation,,,they are in it,or under it..

we will wait and see ifthey slow down,,i am off to buy a different product..

I might set up the camera and just pull the insulation up,,lol,,,hell you will not believe the noise.

  Brake Hoses - A Question
Posted by: N A Chess - 29-05-14, 08:41 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Hi Al

Can anyone tell me the difference between the standard OEM front brake hoses and 'Full Length Race' ones? I have ordered the latter - they are £30 quid cheaper - but have no idea how they differ from standard.

Perhaps I should have found out before buying  :rolleyes

Posted by: Deano0983 - 29-05-14, 08:32 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

On my clutch basket one of the bolts that secure the front friction plate onto the basket has sheared off (broken the cast socket it bolts into) am I still able to run the bike with the remaining 5 bolts and springs in or would it be advisable to get another basket as they are quite hard to come by now?? Help please

Hi folks, Are there any helpfull sparkies that can advise please? I have FZS 400 headlights on my 600 boxeye and both dip beams come on together. When going full beam all 4 filaments are on. The only worry is the loading on the wiring. Can anyone help in a wiring diagram or suggestions as to how to modify the wiring so that both dip are on together and both full beam are on together?

Got MOT 12pm Sat, it's Thursday 1.45pm and the steering assembly is all in bits, got it all apart no problem but you know what's coming......

How the hell can I get the original shells out of the headstock? there is no lip at all to get a rod onto to tap the shell out, ie, tapping the bottom shell out from above, same the other way round. One way might be to hook a large flat screwdriver under the say, top shell, from the top and tap it, ie lever it out but I expect I'd damage the frame around the shell by doing that, so not wanting to try that. Going to be easier to get the shell off the yoke stem, got a feeling my dremmel is going to come into use.

Any thoughts? The manual says don't try it unless they need replacing (they do) but the manual has nothing on how.
