[Fixed] Will not rev past 8k
Posted by: positron - 11-06-14, 12:28 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (65)

Hi,

2003 Fazer is my main commuter and I do about 60-70 miles a day. It was restricted to 33 bhp up until March, so it didn't revv past 7-8k, so I assumed it's the restriction. However, since the restriction washers has been removed, I can feel the overall power has gone up much higher, but the bike seems to struggle when it reaches around 7-8k rpm on the motorway. When it reaches this rpm range, it feels as hesitant to go forward, as if someone is applying and releasing the brake rapidly. This is the case in 6th, 5th and even 4th gear. I can take beyond 8k on 3rd gear if I remember correctly, I will confirm later. Over all fuel consumption has shot up since derestriction. And especially when I take the bike to this 'boggle zone', I can almost see the fuel needle moving! I have checked the exhuast headers and all four seems to hot - meaning all four cylinders are firing. Bike is serviced every six-nine months (6-9k miles)

What could this be? Where should I start? I should add I don't really know much about the inner workings of the bikes - but I am ready to invest some money and time and keen to learn.

Thanks a million!

Problem while shifting gear from first to second
Posted by: sasa78 - 11-06-14, 11:33 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (25)

Hello,

First I would like to apologize for my bad English. I don't know exact technical words but I'll try to explain the best I can.

I am proud owner of FZS600 '98 a couple of months from now and recently a problem has been appeared when trying to shift from first gear to second; instead to enter in second gear, I hear a rattle noise and feel on my foot like a gears start to tear one another, the same thing when you try to shift gears on a car without pressing a clutch first. But sometimes it goes well, while the other times it goes into neutral and then I have to shift up again. And the problem only appear when the bike is hot, obviously cold oil has some influence.
The problem has appeared after a friend of mine lowered clutch  grip from end of handle to middle (free play is increased). Trying to get the grip back to end again didn't make the problem go away.
I am starting to become desperate, mechanics knowing Fazer are rare where I live (if there are any) so any help from other owners would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

  Suggestions for radiator cover?
Posted by: msewelly - 11-06-14, 09:31 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Hi,

I'm after a radiator cover, so far this seems to be the best value one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-FZS-FAZ...35d7e4bc12
However would you say its worth the extra £20 for the "fazer" version?

Many thanks

  One thing after another!!!
Posted by: Wallen - 11-06-14, 09:27 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hello everyone,

I am having problems with my fazer, after arriving at work today the radiator is leeking from the fins. I have looked at the price for a new one (£150) and therefore want a bit of advice....
Do I bite the bullet and buy a new one or look at getting it repaired or try a small amount of radweld and see if that works?

Problem two is I also need a speed sensor unit, so if anyone has a second hand one available I would be willing to pay Smile

Cheers in advance!!

Will
