  Hi from new oldie

Been back on here a while but never got round to introducing myself again. As you can gather ive been on here before but that was a few years ago. I'm from Hereford, live in Swindon & work at Brize Norton. I've had 7 Fazers in total, 2 600s & 5 gen1 1000's. In between the various fazers I've had 2x hornets, Bandit 600, CBR600, R6, R1, SV1000 & GSXR1000K2. My current bike is a silver gen1 1000 with Akrapovic, R&G mushrooms, LSL handlebar clamps, Renthals, Zero Gravity screen, heated grips, belly pan, hugger & top box as its currently in 2up/touring mode. For solo use I fit street fighter screen, mirror blanks, bar end mirrors & remove the top box. I've got some Gilles to go on which get adjusted depending on which mode it's in but I need to buy some new bearings before fitting them again.
That's why I love the fazer, it can be transformed from one mode to the other in less than an hour & the difference is really noticeable, it's not the best at either type of riding but it is better than me at both. It's starting to feel like a heavy bike to me now but I'd rather go to the gym & get fitter than sell it again now. (I'm 56 you know).
Getting the suspension sorted is my next goal as the rear is too soft which makes it run wide on corner exit.
Here's looking forward to many years together.

Hi folks, sorry if this has been done to death but I'm confused.

Could someone link me the right type of pre-mix coolant on halfords site?

Do I want OAT or silicate?

Do I need a particular colour?

Are anti-freeze and coolant the same thing?

Thanks, Andy

  Looking at computer options
Posted by: nick crisp - 21-06-14, 05:34 PM - Forum: General - Replies (53)

Well, my old desk top (on Windows XP) is probably going to expire soon, as M/soft have now withdrawn support for that ancient ( :rolleyes) system. Was in a shop in Oxford the other day, forget the name of the place, but they actually seem to know their stuff, have everything plugged in and running to demonstrate, and a guy there spent a good 20 mins showing me a couple of things, after asking what I need a computer to do - which I thought was great, cos most places just seem to want to sell you whatever their latest promotion is, and then can't tell you bugger all about it.

So, I was looking at an iMac laptop - tres expensif! (£850) - but, it has very good photo software already installed, at least, as good as I'm ever gonna need, and is very easy to use; basically, does everything I want from a computer. Unfortunately, I didn't note the exact model, so will have to pop back and check, so I can see if it's cheaper elsewhere.

However, as little as I know about computers, I know there's likely to be a cheaper option that's every bit as good for what I need it for, so I wondered if anyone had any recommendations before I go and splash the cash. £850 still seems an awful lot of dosh for what I'll actually use a computer for, but it is tempting to go for something a little more up-to-date than I'm used to this time as a bit of a treat.

TL;DR Recommend me a laptop.

  Strip rear panels and shorten?
Posted by: helloindustries - 21-06-14, 05:22 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Very much considering removing the rear panels, moving the CDI etc forward and dumping the stock rear light in favour of something just behind the sub-frame and LED-like. Then remounting the indicators and plate.

Anyone seen this done? Would love to see some 'after' shots so that i can decide if i want to spend the time/effort/money.

If i DO go through with it, i imagine i'll sell the rear plastics on ebay or something, which will probably cover the cost.
