Hi guys, some advice please. I have a 03 Gen 1 thou with 18000 on the clock, bought last August. I did an oil and filter change today but when I struck it up it appears to be leaking oil from the oil cooler. I've never seen this before and can't understand why it's happened as I never touched the cooler when removing the oil filter or fitting the new one. there were no leaks prior to me doing this job so I'd appreciate any clues to fixing it now we are approaching the end of restrictions.
Has anyone got any tips for getting the clutch cover on a gen2 back on properly?
I had a small leak coming from mine so I whipped it off earlier and installed a new gasket but now there is too much play in the cable ? I hadn't adjusted or undone the cable at all so I know the problem has to be with the way I've put it back together.
I've checked the workshop manual, plus tried to find info on Google but nothing that's helped.
I've aligned all the marks like I was supposed too and have now had the cover off a further 4 times but to no avail.
I read online before had that it was meant to be a pain but this is just taking the piss ?
I've had to give up for the day before I took a hammer to it, so I will be trying again tomorrow or Friday
Any advice would be greatly appreciated please
Hello everybody, I´m new right here. And happy to join. I bought a 2001 Fazer 600 a few weeks ago. Excellent condition. The reason for my first post a the following one: After doing maintenance/ exchanging filters and identying leaks in my gasoline hoses, I´ve seen two noozles. on the gas tank belly. Usually covered by a rubber element which is installed in the frame. Mine is missing. And sold out from Europe to Japan. Exploded drawing shows the rubber cover and a simple hose - I believe its a simple spillover. But not sure. In case of - would it be enough, installing two hoses separately?
I know it sounds daft and almost impossible to diagnose without hearing it but here goes anyway, I am looking at a really good 98 Fazer it's got no problems I can find except an after market silencer and a strange squeak when I rotate the chain, best I can make out is it appears to come near or forwards of the plastic/rubber guide on top of swing arm? I doubt if it's anything serious but just thought I would throw it out there for any feedback. It is not constant but appears every once or twice a revolution of the chain, if he drops his crazy asking price I will probably buy and strip and clean guide and hope for the best, thanks for any help.
So today I gave the bike its first clean since buying it (wasn't that dirty, but it was warm out). Anyway I get to the point where I am drying it off with the microfibre and get down to the forks and noticed some pits in the chrome (see attached). So I put on some cable-ties to check my travel to see of the fork seals are ever likely to touch etc and after a quick chat with Gnasher he confirmed on the outside at-least I am a good 5-10mm away. He also mentioned that the FZ1 stock on the front is under-sprung and under-damped, which then reminded me that the suspension isn't setup correctly for my weight - as the forks are travelling too far down.
I have yet to check the inside of the fork stanchions, which I will do the next sunny day we get. But I fear the corrosion there will be worse, like I have seen on a fork I spotted on ebay (see this image), as I can feel bumps and roughness with my fingers etc.
So my questions are for fellow FZ1 owners -
How bad is yours, got images?
How long did it take to get that bad, mileage, time-passed or both.
What have people done to try and combat this issue, trimmed down fork gator? ACF50?, grease?
Has anyone had their forks rechromed -
by who and how much,
how well has the new thicker chrome lasted..? mileage/time-passed.
So today I went to go and replace said bulbs starting with the rear bulb, but had an issue right off the bat. When the brake is applied and then let go, the LED bulb stays on max brightness. I have the same bulb in my Bandit1250 and it works fine (half bright, full bright etc). So this then made me realise that the FZ1 might have an integrated (side stand, brake/indicator, starter switch relay unit?) like my bandit 1250 does (but the rear light dosent go through that on this bike).
If that isn't the case what reason would my 2007 FZ1 have for showing this weird behaviour with only LED bulbs..?
On a related note where is the indicator relay on the FZ1? is it separate like my old FZS or integrated like my bandit..?
Going too be giving the bike an oil change soon because there's condensation in the oil from not using it much, but I start the bike every couple of weeks. So I'm thinking it might need an engine flush to get it all out. Anyone else done this ?
Hi guys pretty new to all this so please have patience with me haha. Recently just did a basic service on my bike, replaced spark plugs, oil filter, air filter and flushed the coolant and oil and put new stuff in. Everything I used is what is recommended in the service/owners manual. The bike is a 04 Fz600
After the service the bike sounded and drove absolutely lovely. Parked her up and went to bed. Next morning I tried to start the bike and then noticed the immobilizer light flashed 5 long and 3 short and there is an error code on the dash. Error 53, the bike tries to start but sounds like the full pump or something is not doing its job. Any ideas to fix this would be much appreciated.
[edited title so link the issue and model etc - bkd]
Should the four steel spacers be lubricated in their bushings within the bracket assembly, if so what type of grease is officially recommended for this job, if any.
