  Starting Issue - AGAIN
Posted by: darrsi - 28-10-16, 07:01 PM - Forum: General - Replies (67)

Went to start the bike outside work last night and had to hold the starter button for a few seconds rather than it instantly firing up like it normally does, then there was an almighty backfire before it sprung to life.

Again tonight, not as bad as yesterday, but it was definitely hesitant before starting compared to normal.

I get the feeling something's about to peg out but i'm not sure what? The bike runs absolutely fine otherwise.

Quite recently had:

New battery
New reg/rectifier
New fuel filter
New Iridium plugs
New TPS
Air filter cleaned and re-oiled
Carbs balanced by me
I did have an issue with the side stand switch, but ended up bypassing it completely, so that's ruled out.

What am i missing?
Apart from this possible upcoming issue the bike is running as sweet as a nut otherwise.

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks, D.

  Action cams

I am looking for an action cam and I have narrowed it down to either a Contour Roam 3 or an iOn Air Pro 3, anyone used either of these or could they recommend something of a similar value (under £100 on Amazon) and preferably not a Go Pro!

Cheers!

  Australian MotoGP
Posted by: verden - 27-10-16, 09:26 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Rode over to the Australian MotoGP last weekend from South Australia approx 750kms. I have a 2013 FZ8 and i must say i'm impressed with its cruising ability. The only problem in Australia is that the national speed limit is 100km/h but 110 km/h on some roads, so probably expecting a speeding fine :-( The bike went fantastic but i think it could have some more low down grunt tho

  Tanks a million
Posted by: Andy1970 - 27-10-16, 08:18 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

In September, motorcyclespareparts.eu had a 10% discount sale, and as the fuel tank on my rolling-restoration Fazer is in a pretty sorry state, I decided this was a good time to splash out on a new one. I ordered it through their website, and in due course they confirmed that it had arrived and was on-route to me via DHL. It arrived a couple of weeks ago, but when I unpacked it I discovered that at some point on its journey from Athens (apparently) to me via Germany it had been dropped or hit and sustained a dent in the top right corner. Ar$e  :'( . I phoned MSP, and then emailed a couple of photos of the damage and they said, "No problem, send it back and we'll order you another one." So I sent it back (at their cost, naturally) and waited, although they'd already told me that there were no more available in Europe, so it'd have to come from Japan  :eek .

Unfortunately MSP have now informed me that there aren't any available in Japan either.

The fairly happy ending is that I've been able to negotiate a decent price for the damaged one with MSP, and they're now sending it back to me again.
So, kudos to MSP for doing their best to sort this out, and always being quick to respond. But  :finger  to the careless courier who managed to put a dent in what appears to be possibly the last brand-new FZS600 fuel tank on the planet .

i've tried...........gawd knows i've really tried to be supportive of him.

through all his little foibles, stupid ideas and plans. even when he screwed over his own mother for £20k i've tried to be a steady hand on the tiller........a voice of reason.

but today he went too far.

i was told he was helping me pop up the plasterboard in the garage (he was a builder-y type person once so fine i thought). first sheet of 8x4 he picks up he snaps :\

'i'll use that for the fill pieces' i say soothing the situation.

2nd sheet goes up, i put my screws in and pass the drill over to him so he can pop a few in. foc-nuts puts so much force onto the screw it goes sideways and he shoves the drill through the sheet :eek

11 years of biting my tongue came out in about 30s of ranting...........i don't think he'll be coming home tonight!

  Compulsory Insurance Excess
Posted by: fazersharp - 26-10-16, 05:13 PM - Forum: General - Replies (15)

Is there any bike quote that has a lower than £250 compulsory excess, I have already set my vol one to zero. Seems they all start at £250.
Bennets are looking the cheapest so far, I take it that its not worth buying any of the extra legal cover, personal accident.
