The dreaded ethanol !! |

Evening all !!
I have just introduced myself on the Newbie page !!
I was saying I have bought a 2003 Fazer 600 with only 4500 on it. I was offered it by an old chap I know, and its in mint condition.
It's been kept warm and dry, but the ethanol has been at work.
It starts and runs beautifully, over 2000 rpm, but goes onto three cylinders on tickover.
After reading on your great forum, I guess the pilot jets need cleaning through, so can anyone suggest where to get my float bowl gaskets - should I pay £7.50 each from Fowlers, or has anyone used Wemoto ones for £3.80 each !
Any other advice would be very welcome !!

Hello everybody !!
I'm a mature rider as they say, and I have been riding my 1200 Bandit for years, and I must say I love it.
However, I've always fancied a Fazer, I have a friend with an immaculate 2002 boxeye, so when I was offered a mint, 2003 FZS600 with 4500 genuine miles, by an old chap I know, earlier this year, I had to have it !!!
I've been spying on the forum for a few weeks now, so it is time to join you, and introduce myself !!
My Fazer has been dry and warm stored for a few years, so I will be asking for some advice but not on this page.
It's nice to be one of you, on what seems like a great forum.

How does one know when the chain needs to be replaced, apart from if it breaks or if the adjusters are screwed very far back on the swinging arm? Mine is just a notch before the middle adjustment marker on the swing arm. I have had the bike for 18 months, i only seem to have to adjust the chain every 4 or 5 months as it doesn't seem to stretch much with my riding style although I have put about 4000 miles on it at least.
