Wheel bearing kit for FZ1 Gen 2
Posted by: Bruce - 21-12-16, 11:05 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

Anyone replaced their rear wheel bearings on a FZ1 Gen 2 bike?  Looking to replace  mine as a preventative measure as the bearings collapsed on the last bike.  Having difficulty finding a rear bearing kit from a bearing manufacturer that i recognise.  Weemoto have a kit by 'Slinky Glide', who i had never heard of before.  Anyone used these kits (are they any good) or know where I can get another kit - I live in the UK.

Thanks

Bruce

Hello Everyone - Just joined the forum.  Bought a FZ1S earlier this year with full luggage.  Had a good number of bikes over the years, last bike was a 2000 Fireblade.  Wanted a do it all bike with luggage and good comfort so it fitted the bill.

Cheers

Bruce

My most favorite day of the winter.
Posted by: fazersharp - 21-12-16, 11:17 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Why ?
Because its the 21st of December and the shortest day so from here on its gonna be getting lighter everyday until I can have a 10pm sunset ride.
I hate the winter - its not the cold its lack of light.

  R6 throttle mod
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 21-12-16, 12:34 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

My throttle sleeve needs replacing as it has worn and now the throttle returns back past neutral. So anyway looking around for a replacement I found some people are replacing the standard sleeve with the R6 one as it's 1/5 turn instead of 1/4? Making the throttle response more immediate. I'm just wondering anyone has done it here? And if so can I still use my current grips or will I need r6 ones?

  Coolant overheating warning light
Posted by: phil mcglassup - 20-12-16, 01:05 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

Hi All,

I've read on one of the online owner's manuals that the coolant overheating warning light should come on for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on. Mine does not come on at all. The fuel and oil level warning lights do. The coolant level is fine and the bike runs okay.

Any ideas where I should start looking ? ...or should it only come on when the engine is overheating !! It's just that I've noticed the engine has a strange smell recently...without I've been running through cow excrement or something similar  :eek

  Road Rage.

I was a bit silly this morning, as some asshole in a black fiesta fecking pulled out infront of me on a roundabout early this morning and very nearly took me out so I stupidly chased the foccer shouting at him and giving him all the hand signals I could think of, I was so close to smashing pieces of his car off but thankfully I managed to snap out of it and get well clear, so pulled into a side road and calmed down. The twat just looked at me with a blank face as if he had done nothing wrong.

It was very stupid of me to chase him as I put myself and others in possible danger, but it just goes to show how easy anger can take over your actions.

I'm just glad I was able to snap out of it when I did as I was all ready to drag the twat headed hoodie baseball cap wearing little foccer out of the car and beat the little shit to a pulp.

Stay safe everyone and don't let this happen to you.

Struggling to start/cutting out when warm
Posted by: dannytsg - 20-12-16, 07:51 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi all. I have a 1998 Fazer which I have owned since 2012. It's a weekend pleasure bike with only 37K on the clock and looked after.

I took her out this weekend, started with no issues and ran as she always does however after about 30 minutes of riding it felt as if she was bogging down and juddering at low speed/revs.

I managed to get home and turned the engine off but when I came back to the bike to restart and move it into the garage it just struggled like nobodies business. It was as if it was fuel starved cranking over, ticking at very low revs before cuttting out quickly.

About 12-18 months ago I had the fuel tank repaired because of a mystery leak that occurred after it had been in a local garage for MOT/service and seals.

Could this be a potential breather pipe issue or does it sound more complicated?

Thanks

Hi all,

I have had a 98 Fazer 600 since 2012 and have only just found this place (Inknow, I know). I have signed up as I am after some advice as my bike has recently developed a slight issue.

Thanks
