Looks as if Spring isaround the corner
Posted by: lew600fazer - 18-02-17, 11:46 AM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Yesterday SW France , 5 mins from were I live. Hopefully Spring is just around the corner it was 16 degrees mid afternoon but still gets bloody cold at night. Lovely countryside by me but the roads are crap for biking, covered in mud with the farmers or else gravel. I did find one decent road with some good twisties  so rode the length of it to check it out. Had a blast but Jaysus am I rusty or what, had best get the L Plates out as a guy on a Bergman pushed me all the way lol.

Thought it about time I got some sun on my old bones so went onto Travelsupermarket and found a good deal In Turkey.
By the time I called my mate and told him to pack his mankini and go online it had gone up by £60 !!!!
Then when we clicked on the hotel to book, it went up another £12 each ????

My guess is they monitor the cookies and think............"Right, that's Delboy interested. Up the prices."

Bastards.

  I'm Kev.
Posted by: Kevfoci - 18-02-17, 10:58 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (3)

Names Kev (obviously), I live in South Australia and own a B-King.

But I'm Irish and have an 03 FZS600 back at home that I've had for about 10 years. Haven't ridden it now in 4 years but I'm heading home for a holiday in two weeks so hopefully I'll be able to tidy it up and get it running for the 2 months that I'll be home in mid to late summer.

Need to get a set of downpipes (anyone have experience with motad?) and probably other maintenance like fork seals, tyres, brakes, chain etc.

Looking forward to getting on the silver streak again!

Yamaha fazer fz6 2006 - no brake light with front or rear brake
Posted by: Ganch - 18-02-17, 01:34 AM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (4)

Hi all, just recently purchased my fazer fz6. Absolutely love the hike and ride compared to my previous r6!

Initially the rear light was not working all together.

I replaced the bulb and the rear light then began to work but when I pressed the rear and front brake the light didn't brighten. I have the correct bulb and I have checked the wiring to the best of my ability. Also bypassed the front switch but still the light is no brighter.

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP AS I WANT TO BE OUT RIDING

  Squeaky Sidi Adventure Boots
Posted by: Frosties - 17-02-17, 11:12 PM - Forum: General - Replies (12)

Hope you fellas can help 'cos this is driving me mad.

After 3 yrs and knocking 80,000 miles, my TCX Infinity boots started to leak. Cleaned them up, applied Nikwax but the Goretex appeared to have blown - sole was pretty shot anyhow as a 365 rider.

The TCX were a cracking boot but I always buy the best gear I can affordd and was sold on the Sidi Adventure Goretex boot (4 months old, broken in etc). Great protection, good grip and comfy as hell. https://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/prod...boots/1761

As much as I love these boots they are feckin noisy and squeak like I've got a dozen geese with me. They're fine on the bike and walking down the street but fecking annoying when trying to walk through an office. I'm close to selling them on unless I can cure this squeaking.

From what I can make out, it's either the plastic exoskeleton rubbing on plastic or on the Goretex leather itself. So the question is - what is considered safe to apply:- chain lube; dry chain lube, silicon oil (thinking WD40 is a bad idea for the leather).

Any advice as always appreciated fellas  :thumbup

  Gen 2 fork adjustment
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 17-02-17, 03:54 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Hey, just wondering if anyone know if the forks on the gen2 have a compression adjustment?
Can't seem to find it? I know it's usually at the bottom near the calipers on most bikes?

  Bolshy Bridgestone?
Posted by: JoeyMcEssex - 17-02-17, 03:53 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

Hi, Looking for new tyres and found good deal on ebay for pair of S20 Evo 110/70/ZR17 160/60/ZR17.

Went to Bridgestone site to check them and got message " Battleaxe S20 EVO doesn't fit your YAMAHA FZS 600 FAZER<2003"

Am I missing something or are Bridgestone saying the Fazer wont like them?

Useing the bike through winter, stainless headers?
Posted by: ogri48 - 17-02-17, 10:50 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (20)

I commute Monday Tuesday Wednesday, but home early on Wednesday, so religiously wash/ fs365 the bike along with clean the chain/ relube and clean rear shock and tie rods etc with wd40 every Wednesday afternoon. Every three or four weeks tops I check tyre pressures and take all three calipers off, drop the pads out and clean Pistons anti squeal shims pins etc, coppa grease and back together, along with running all the exup stainless cap heads out and back in again with coppa slip. I also clean the headers up with one of them green pads the missus uses to do saucepans. I'm assuming they are stainless, mine get filthy with all the shit on the roads around here this time if the year( the commute is probably about 200 miles and it's nearly always wet, with salt and mud from tractors thrown in) do you think I should just stick to washing them? They get stains behind the crud that won't come off with soap and water. Breaks me heart to use the bike like this but needs must
