  Lucky lucky lucky!!
Posted by: SutherlandFZS600 - 04-03-17, 09:09 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (22)

I'm sure you folk are well aware about the well known sprocket nut  issue?
Well after buying the bike last year I was delighted with it even if I had only done 10-20 miles before tucking it away for the winter! As with everything I've owned/bought I always like to strip it down and check all the wear and tear items e.g., pads, calipers, seals, bearings, bushes and well everything really. So I'm a bit pernickity so had a list as long as my arm with things needing done which probably didn't but anyway this bloody did!!!

  Exup valve help with video
Posted by: MarkW - 03-03-17, 05:41 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (18)

[size=2]Hi all,

Bought my Fazer in November last year and it was displaying the 7k code on the tachometer.

Went out today to have a look, loosened the cables (top was very slack already) valve turned freely as expected; the seller advertised the bike as having had a new valve, end plate and bushes.

After a few attempts at adjusting the cables I am now free of the 7k code. However, having looked at a few videos of working valves, the initial position of mine at idle seems to be off somewhat and despite several attempts adjusting I could not get the forks of the pulley to line up with the hole. I'm also unsure whether it is opening fully, I thought it seemed a bit hesitant. Does it open all the way to the 2 O'clock position at red line in revs?

Here is the video, I took the revs up to about 9k at the end. I was hoping an expert could cast their eye over this and perhaps give me some pointers Big Grin

Thanks in advance

Hi new on here so thought I'd write up a short story lol
Well I'm Steven and live in the far North of Scotland around 50 miles south of John o'groats! Owned my 1998 fzs600 for about 6 months but not actually been out on a proper run yet, only covered around 10 miles or so since buying her! Done a few things to the bike over the winter and now just waiting on better weather to get her out! Can't come soon enough!!

  head race bearings
Posted by: celticdog - 03-03-17, 04:51 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Well the old  :faz has now reached the 40k milestone  :eek and I'm thinking of replacing the head race bearings. There's nowt wrong with the steering at the moment- no freeplay or notching, everything ok. I hear that it's a bit of a ballache to do? Is it worth doing now or do I leave it a bit. At what milage did you replace yours if you have replaced?  I know that all bearings have a limited life in service, I've had to replace the front wheel bearings aboot 6 months ago. All input is greatly appreciated dear foccers. Cheers . . .Will

  speedo sensor testing ???
Posted by: Disorderlypunk - 03-03-17, 02:18 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - No Replies

ok so speedo stopped working the other day and obviously plays with timing as engine turned to shit afterwards
engine became fine later and rev counter giving the 4k speed sensor error
front off this morning and found the rotator is cracked and loose (new one getting ordered)
i spin the rotator in the sensor at high speed and getting no reading
does anyone know how to test these using a multimeter and the three pins???
(beware removing front mudguard - even after wd40 last night all 4 still broke lol)

  How focin excited am I
Posted by: joebloggs - 02-03-17, 11:20 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (21)

Well the Fazer isn't going to be finished anytime soon and the other project was looking like it was going the same way so I spent a couple of days looking at various bikes on ebay and am hoping to pick up a low milege ZZR600 on Saturday. OK not the best looking bike out there but ideal for me as I won't get the urge to foc around with it, just get back on the road and ride the thing.

Couple of sleepless nights coming up me thinks Big Grin
