Bike wanted for my Uncle
Posted by: taffytoon - 21-03-17, 02:51 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (8)

Okay I have found my new steed found it from a fellow FOCU member (missed my mint thou from the day I sold it on here!!). My uncle who had bikes for years now wants to come on ride outs bless him; he is retired and only has a budget of £1150. He isn't the tallest at 5,7 so anything from a 250 - 400 - 600 would be good for him; something that's not too heavy and good for medium distances.

We are based in South Wales so closer the better

Cheers

Taffy

Gen1 black frame and engine paint

Anyone found good matches for these? Had a quick search, but couldn't find anything. Mine needs a couple of spots touching up. Seems like more of a very dark grey graphite-like finish.
Would be useful for PieEater's FAQ section too.

Looks like motad have gone under

Hope nobody's waiting on delivery of an exhaust from motad, looks like they've shut up shop. No mention of what's happening with existing orders.

Shame, they've been around for a long time.

Hello everyone,

My names Shamen and I'm 23, Norfolk area, Engineer.

Picked up a '99 fzs600 a couple weeks ago, she's red and carries full luggage.  :lol I decided to postpone  the introduction/ joining the forum until i'd done a couple thousand to be sure I was going to keep the thing (I'm very picky when it comes to bikes... :rolleyes  13 in the past few years, all sizes, many genres).

This is me downsizing from my recent trio of st1100 (sold), '07 ZZR1400 (selling soon) and '86 z550 LTD (for sale). It's looking like she'll be my only bike for my sole source of transport for the near future.

So far I have to say, I'm very happy, I'd forgotten how much fun smaller IL4's can be... actually being able to use the available power. It's so light, manageable, easy to live with.

So far the only mod's  I've done is the 12mm Nut/ washer kit and a +1 tooth front sprocket. Just because i'm so used to turning lower rpm at 60-70. I've also modified an unknown brand exhaust.... existing baffle was too quiet, removing it was too....  :eek  'lets say obnoxious' . So I found the trick to enabling a happy compromise, without changing the nice sound was to keep the exhaust outlet unobstructed, whilst adding a baffle tube within the exhaust it'self to quiet down the high rpm sound.

I have a few idea's for future mods/ trinkets down the line.

Also very happy to find there's a pretty decent looking owners club on here!

Looking forward to getting to know people over time!

Thanks, Shamen.

ps.. owe i forgot to ask, does anyone on here have much experience with the Renthal Ultra Low bars? i think the 758's? I noticed today my bars are ever so slightly bent and it's now something that'll bug me to no end.

Renthal medium bars 755s or other sizes.

Anybody fitted these to their Gen. 1  or does everyone go for the ultra low bars. If you have fitted either did you keep the old cables and hoses. First decent ride on my 1000 at the weekend (after the 3 w s, waiting for it, work and weather) and the original bars are proper sh1te, not sure who they were designed to fit but it certainly wasn't a 5ft. 10 bloke with normal elbows. I definitely need less sweep, maybe a bit more height and a little bit closer to me I reckon? Apart from that, and the weather, what a lovely bike to ride.
All info. gladly received.
Cheers Gents.
