  dog bones
Posted by: Dustydes - 20-03-17, 10:08 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Hi

Can anyone give me the sizes of the bolts that go through the dog bones.
I don't want to remove to measure.
Need length of unthreaded and total length as in pic, from inside of bolt head.

I have new adjustable dog bones that are wider than originals and so will need longer bolts to fit.

Pics are even better

Here's something to start......

SW France to Northern Costa Blanca
Posted by: lew600fazer - 19-03-17, 09:00 PM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - Replies (1)

Just back from a 10 day trip from were I live SW France to the Costa Blanca were I used to live. Why did I ever move away from Spain.
Anyway did my best to avoid the Toll roads and Motorways. Broke the run up down and back with an overnight stop in a cheap hostel **star used booking.com €25.00 basic but comfortable and clean. Decent enough bar /restaurant in Monreal del Campo about 100kms south of Zaragoza. Had a bit of a thirst on me so had 6 pints and a large whiskey to take to bed that and my menu del Dia € 24.00.
Had good dry and warm weather all the way down,. Great biking roads N 330 is a cracker s is the N284. Only day it rained was the Monday but seeing as I was having a day away from the bike with my mate did not bother me.
I had a couple of days getting re familiar again with the Bernia Mountains at the back of Benissa and Jalon valley. I love it up there and with the tourist not about one could misbehave.
Came back over the Pyrenees passing through Formigal and Panitcosa ski resorts again weather amazing. The only down side with the MT09 is the fuel tank size at 14 litres it is a pain as if you are giving it some you can be looking for a petrol station every 100 mils or so. This is my 3rd long haul tour in a year. Sw France to N Ireland last April, Sw France to N  Wales in September and this run. Not bad for an old fart at 68.

  Givi Wingrack2 '01 incompatibility with '99 bike
Posted by: Pandy - 19-03-17, 05:00 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Hi friends,

Did anyone hit a problem like mine?
I bought the rack 2 months ago and tried this weekend to put it.
My old lady it's a '99, the rack (2001 from seller description) is the one sold here: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,21616...#msg248956

I attached 4 photos, the silver bike is from Google. The other one it's mine.

From what I see, obvious, the arms which should fit the passenger pegs are too long. From other pictures I found on Google, pegs position looks the same, and didn't think that Yamaha will modify the bike in just 2 years. Probably in real life it is.

Do anyone has any idea what is my option to fit the '01 long bars into the '99 lady?

  Hi all

Hi there. I'm a 50 yr old (yes, an old fart) That has always been into riding classic Italian scooters, but had never gotten round to taking my test. I made it my aim to do so before hitting my bullseye and realised how much more fun I was missing out on, not having a bike, so went out and treated myself to a nice cheap 2002 600.

2 months into owning it, I can't get enough of it and will find the tiniest excuse to saddle up and go for a blatt. The weather is getting better and I'm looking forward to many miles of fun around Kent and further.

All my old scooter pals are saying I've sold out  :rollin

  Indicator problem
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 19-03-17, 03:46 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

So I fitted my new L.E.D tail light this morning and found out when I got to work that my indicators aren't working?
I tested them by just plugging the light in first and they were fine.
I can disconnect the new light and they still don't work.
If I turn the bike off then back on the right hand side will flash and work fine but as soon as I try to put on the left or the hazards then they both stop working.
I haven't touched the wiring at all as the new light is just a plug and play kit thar goes into the existing light socket.
I did strip all the back end of and undid the undertray and tail tidy so I'm thinking ive have dislodged something or possibly caused a wire to break?

Any ideas of anything to try before I strip her apart again tomoz?

Valve clearances - out of spec
Posted by: teecee90 - 19-03-17, 12:44 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Well I guess Im one of the unlucky ones.....

This job started as a simple AIS removal and, typically, has progressed to a much bigger job. The classic - "I might as well just do so-and-so while I'm at it." Anyway, decided to check the valve clearances while I had the front end stripped. The bike has just about covered 26k miles so is due for a check anyway.

All except one is within spec (see picture). Question is.... is it that critical?

I haven't yet looked up how big a job it is to re-shim the offending valve. My instinct is just to get on and do the job properly while it's stripped down. But what are the consequences of just leaving it?

To be honest, I rather expected that any out-of-spec readings would more likely be over-tight valves rather than loose ones. But perhaps that's just exposing my ignorance of the engineering...

The other question is .... is it worth re-shimming any of the others that are close to spec while Im at it, or just the one that needs it?

Cheers foccers.

  Paint equivalent
Posted by: tomlinscote - 19-03-17, 12:44 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

Hi folks,
Recovering after hitting a tree and breaking my collar bone. Bike ok but needs the fairing/cowling sticking back together and then painting. Spoke to Yamaha and they don't sell the paint, silver tech 3 or S3 they said it was. Anyone know if there is a car paint that is a close match to that. Over here in France getting car paint is hard enough let alone bike paint. (I know rs paints do an exact match but that's £50 and the bike is 13 years old so the rest of the paint will be faded compared to the new paint.....)

Here's hoping, thanks

Tommo
