  Bike didn't start!
Posted by: ben17484 - 30-03-17, 09:33 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (73)

This morning I got on my bike to come to work and it wouldn't start. I did my usual of turning the choke on (and checked that the bar moved on the carb, so the cable is definitely working), slight throttle and starter button, but it just sat and churned away but didn't start. Eventually the batter died so i had to put the bike away and get the train to work.

I haven't used the bike in anger since last Friday, but did go for a quick spin around the block yesterday and everything seemed fine.

Where would be a good place to start looking for the issue?

Cheers,
Ben

Posted by: clumptydumpty - 29-03-17, 09:01 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Fz1 stainless steel powercone for sale.

Great condition only been on since November.

Selling due to wanting something carbon to match the rest of the bike, would even consider a swap.

Looks great and with being stainless steel it can be polished up to a really high finish.

Complete with baffle.

Struggling to add photos from my phone so maybe best to pm and I can email them through??

£150 plus postage.

Thanks

  Stripped output shaft...
Posted by: dcurzon - 29-03-17, 08:56 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (15)

My 90k old '99 was making the odd rattle, so today, having just shelled out on tyres, I decided to check, and look and behold,  the front sprocket nut had spun loose and Stripped the shaft.  (Yes it was the newer type nut).

Options?

Or break the bike?

It's my work horse :/

Also a carbon fibre exhaust, lets see whats out there.

  FZS600 Electrical Fault- please help!
Posted by: simonnamos - 29-03-17, 10:36 AM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Hi

I am new to the club - joined today. I ride a 2003 Fazer FSZ600, now on 65k miles, mostly in my ownership. The bike runs great- always has, but an electrical fault has developed over the last few weeks. At first the clock starting re-setting itself. Then the speedo and tacho dials intermittently went to zero, but then started working again. Now if I turn on either the lights or the indicators all the console lights go out and the dials stop working. The engine still runs fine. I have re-newed the battery which was only two years old, but this wasn't the cause of the problem.

Any suggestions greatly received!

Thanks
Simon

  EXUP error issue
Posted by: JD-LincsUK - 29-03-17, 10:13 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hullo chaps and chapesses,

Having locked my baby away for the winter - too much salt around these parts - on my second ride after the thaw, the rev counter started doing the EXUP dance. I didn't notice any issues, so I took it to my very experienced mechanic friend, who gave it a good once over and lubed it up. The fault indication disappeared. Even though nothing was visibly wrong in the first place.

Yesterday I took it for its MOT (just 2-3 miles away) and on the way home, the rev counter started doing the 7,000 thing again. Bike still feels just fine, though.

Any ideas?

TiA
