  Shoddy fork lowers
Posted by: Mjhb - 07-05-17, 10:50 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (15)

Hi,

Due to collect my 98 600 next week and the fork lowers have seen better days ... and are quite heavily corroded with that white flaky stuff (technical term).

What do people use to tidy them up ? I've had a look on the internet & YouTube but the seem to be adverts for American products in the main.

Having them professionally redone isn't worth it financially at the mo.

Any hints, tips, and advice greatfully received ! ??

Many thanks,

Matt

  Wiring - newbie questions
Posted by: Mjhb - 07-05-17, 10:45 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi all,

I'm due to collect my 98 600 next week and have a couple of questions about wiring ...

It's had a replacement fairing at some point, and to my inexperienced eye the wiring looks a bit untidy - could anyone direct me to a photo of what it should look like please ?

Also, both lights are on when headlights are selected, and the near side remains lit when main beam is selected ... does this mean that the headlight mod has already been done ?

Lastly, there's a couple of connectors under the seat, towards the rear that I'm unsure about.

No pics at the mo ... and apologies for the length of the post ??

Hi all. Recently passed my test at the ripe old age of 48 and picking up a 98 600 in black next weekend.

39,000 on the clock. Could do with some cosmetic tlc but mechanically very sound.

Looking forward to clocking up some miles ??

Now to join the great headlight upgrade discussion !

Long weekend trip to Jura region France and Lake Geneva
Posted by: dazza - 06-05-17, 08:24 PM - Forum: General - Replies (20)

Having a few technical problems posting pictures, bare with me Foccers.
So,as promised Foccers. Here's a little thread about my long weekend trip to the Jura region in France.
After loading the bikes into the van the night before, we loaded up all our provisions comprising of enough alcohol to run a bar and enough food to feed a small army (I shit you not)
We left an overcast, cold and wet Britain to catch the 08.15 ferry from Dover.
As we waited to board we took pity on the bikers who were getting wet with nowhere to shelter, thinking they're going to have a miserable start to their journey and smugly praising ourselves for making the right decision to take the van (so up yours Midden)
We made the dash down to Lac de Chalain, Fontenu in a little over 6 hours taking the toll roads alternately listening to both our favourite cd albums and munching our way through the mountain of food and snacks the sister in law had packed for us.
The sun was out, it was about 21 degrees and all was good.

We immediately set about prioritising our things to do and put the beer in the fridge.

Once we knew the beer was safe we kitted up and hit the mountain roads on the bikes.
We wanted to make the most of the dry weather as the forecast was wet all day for Saturday.
In less than an hour we had stumbled across a closed mountain pass and did what any self respecting Foccers would do, took it in turns to prevent any vehicles entering the only closure point and rode the shit out of it.
On the way back we did a circuit of the camp we were staying at and took some fantastic photos as the sun was setting.
On our return and after scrubbing in my new S21 Bridgestones we unloaded all the food

  Speeding in Europe
Posted by: Bretty - 06-05-17, 09:50 AM - Forum: General - Replies (18)

I think I just read a news story that said, from 7th May, if you get flashed by a speed camera in Europe they now have access to UK vehicle registration information and will send you a fine.

Is it just another hoax?

How is that enforceable? Would the paperwork be in English? Would UK police enforce this? Come after you and/or extradite you?
