Hi peeps,
I own a 2003 FZS600
I am new to the owners club, so not sure of what the rules are yet, but i am pretty sure that someone will put me right, if i do something wrong.
My name is Tony and I only passed my motorcycle test last month and have owned my Fazer for 3 weeks, had to replace front tyre, then get a
rear tyre flat (marvelous :rolleyes ) no problem though, have to wait until next month to change that one, anyway gives me a chance to do some
minor cosmetic work on it, I am also new to having to do the work on it, I have a mate who can do the mechanical side of things, and i will
do the tidying up, but am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where I could find a top fairing (square light) or advise me on a couple of things,
like how easy is to change the headlights from square to the foxlight and can I change the braking system to ABS. cheers.

| Fazer engine into '98 R1 |

I'm pretty sure that the good old Gen 1 Fazer 1000 engine is a '98 - '99 R1 motor, probably with a few tweaks to the cams and ignition, is this correct?
The reason i'm asking is that a mate of mine has broken a valve in his race R1 motor and is looking at at a hefty repair bill (again, £1100 last time), I asked if it would be cheaper to just stuff another engine in it but he said the '98 - '99 engines are getting a bit rare now and are commanding big money. Then I thought about the Fazer, they have the same engine don't they?
if there is a mounting point for the R1 frame on the head, he is quite happy to source a cylinder head and use the Fazer bottom end.
Does anyone know if this can be done, Gen 1 Fazer into '98 R1???? Or is there something that just flat out rules it out?
Anyone help?
Thanks.

Thought I'd drop an intro on here as well as the welcome section.
I've just bought myself a cheap (£950) Fazer 1000 on a 52 plate with highish mileage (48000) taken a bit of a gamble as it's a non-runner - fuel pump is definitely not operating, so I'm hoping it's a simple fix.
I'm having to have the bike transported (as it's not running) so am getting impatient awaiting it's arrival, hopefully Wednesday.
I'm sure I'll be asking lots of probably silly questions on here as I go through the bike.

Hi all,
I've Dave from Preston, Lancs. I'm 48, and have had bikes all my life. Recently bought a Mk2 triumph speed triple that I just can't get along with, so it has to go, so......
I've just bought a 2002 Fazer 1000 as a project - non-runner with a suspected pump fault - I'm waiting for it to be delivered later this week before eagerly getting the spanners out.
Other bikes in the shed are a 1982 Yamaha 350LC that I've owned since 1991 and a 1996 Honda CB1000 (owned for about 12 years) that is in the process of been ripped apart for a big overhaul (hole through frame rail).
