  Rear master cylinder seals
Posted by: Shappaeye - 02-09-17, 02:59 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (9)

Hello!

I recently had to replace pistons and seals on my rear caliper as the rear brake completely failed.

While I was taking it all to pieces, I thought replace the brake line and seals in the master cylinder.

Brake line not a problem, seals in the master cylinder on the other hand are like rocking horse s..t!

I went into my local biker shop, they aren't listed unless you got to Yamaha which are 50 a set.

Anyone had a similar experience? Do they ever fail? Is that why they aren't around or common as others?

I am wondering if after stripping the plunger, etc out of the cylinder perhaps I should just rebuild it and hope a clean out was all it needed.

  Digital speedo

Hi guys, has any one fitted an aditional digi speedo to a gen 1 fazer 1000?  My problem is i cant quite see the numbers on the speedo dial without taking my eyes of the road and trying to focus. If I wear my glasses I can see it fine but cant see the road. The joys of getting old  :rolleyes

Posted by: spinus - 02-09-17, 08:45 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

hi
I think my low fuel light isn't working
I rode my bike till the fuel guage was right on the bottom of the guage
still no fuel light
I then filled the tank and got 16 litres in
is the low fuel light a replaceable bulb?
cheers in advance

Wanted - Rear Brake Caliper for Fazer FZS600 2002
Posted by: Jimfaz - 01-09-17, 03:26 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

Finding it nearly impossible to get a replacement rear brake caliper for my FZS600 - 2002 model from any breakers, anybody out there got one or any thoughts or ideas? Bike has been off the road for three weeks now as the garage who are doing the repair can't release it until replacement is found (tried re-boring the bolt holes but didn't work)
Thanks

  Bleeding brakes
Posted by: alan sherman - 01-09-17, 02:52 PM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

Having not changed the brake fluid for ages i had forgotten just how shit a job it is.  The problem is the pipe on the bleed nipples.  I had a kit with a one way valve, but the valve needed too much pressure so the pipe was just popping off the nipple covering everything with fluid.
I got the job done by cutting the valve off and just using the rubber and clear pipe.  This was better but still feels a bit hit and miss as I never got enough flow from the brake system to actually see if there were any bubbles in the fluid (maybe the pipe diameter is too big - meaning fluid and air just swap sides inside the pipe).
note that I have stainless bleed nipples that may be more slippery / smaller than the standard FZS600 ones.

So what do you do?  Apart from use lots of water to clean the fluid off the discs, brakes and wheel.....

Givi Monokey E360 panniers and side racks for sale SOLD
Posted by: Graham53 - 01-09-17, 12:27 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

ive decided to sell my Givi panniers and side racks as my arthritic old knees don't like me touring anymore and with my fat arse the Mrs and the panniers it's a bit too much now.
Anyway they're used but in good condition, a few use scratches but not much, I'll take £130 for the lot.
if anyones interested I can get them out the cupboard and take some pics
It'll have to be collect from Essex, (5 mins from J26 on M25) as they're big and with the racks it'd probably cost a small fortune to send em although I'd consider it if you want to pay it
Send me a PM if you're interested
