99 fzs600 lumpy idle, lumpy low speed
Posted by: motodevcam - 28-08-17, 02:12 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (26)

Hello!

After some help please?! Smile I've done lots of searching and taken on board lots of the suggestions in other threads...now time to start a new one!

I'm a new rider so bear in mind that some of the issues may be rider related Smile
Struggling with low speed riding/manoeuvring. Scenario: Small tight roundabout, going all the way round/3rd exit. assume if pulled away from standing in 1st. If I drive it slowly as it's a tight R/A I'm finding it hard to keep it smooth. Almost to the point that I start to kangaroo. Now I get that I can slip the clutch and raise the revs, or drag the back brake....but...very hard to indicate off whilst holding in the clutch and on a wet RA I don't really want to drag the rear brake. It's not a problem I had on the xj600 Divi I learned on, maybe its because the fazer has twice the HP and inline 4?

I'm also having problems at idle (which Is why I'm assuming the two are related) The bike idles just above 1k but not at all smoothly. It's running very lumpy and the needle is fluttering to the time of the sound of the engine. (if that makes sense).

I have:
Changed Oil/filter
Cleaned and checked plug gaps
Balanced the carbs
Cleaned and oiled the K & N air filter.
Checked all breather hoses are clear and not kinked.
Bike has Micron Fast flow Can and performance filter as above.

Bike was sat for a year before I took possession of it. I have also tried the fuel additive as mentioned by lots of people on here with the same issue to clean the jets. Also find that I have a few little backfires whist decelerating. Nothing big and loud just little pops and grunts. Smile

Any help of suggestions are much appreciated Smile

PHOTOBUCKET PROBLEM AND WORKAROUND -- STICKY??
Posted by: DebtMan - 28-08-17, 12:32 PM - Forum: General - Replies (9)

As many folk will be aware, some of the older threads that have for eons used Photobucket as their image hosting platform have now become a bit pants due to Photobucket holding their entire user base to ransom.

There is a sort of limited workaround for this, at least in the short term. Anyone needing to view the pics can use Google's Chrome browser with the Photobucket embed fix add-on installed. It works on PCs but as yet I've not been able to find a fix to work on mobile devices or on any other widely used browsers, ie. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc.

Also can't speak for Linux users, apparently the Chrome fix works by looking at the referring links directly so Linux users may have browsers that work in this way, just not sure on this.

Worthy a sticky admin??

Cheers

Just want to say hi as I have have collected my blue 2007 FZ6 S2. Strongly suspect the previous owner had to be a member here as they carried out alot of very tasteful mods (touring screen, ASV levers, OEM bellypan, Oxford heated grips, scottoiler, led rear light to name but a few).  The forum has been a great help in researching the fazer and i look forward to being part of the community

  FZS1000 potential sale
Posted by: anutz - 27-08-17, 03:39 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Looking to see how much intrest there is in my FZS1000, 99% sure I want to sell, but need a final ride once an MOT is on it to check its all running well as I have had the cylinder head off and not really given it a thrash since, starts fine and sounds fine.

47k Miles ( ish...will double check ), was in a state when I got it i.e. not cleanced, and rusted headers, water pump leak, rear wheel bearing issues, all sorted now.

- Changed Oil/Water Pump
- AIS Mod Done
- New Spark Plugs
- New Chain and Sprocket, as well as rear tyre only seen 200+ miles
- Rear wheel main bearing replaced, kush drive ok
- MOT about to expire, but intend to MOT middle of next month
- System3 Alarm
- One previous owner aside from me
- New MotoBatt Battery as last one was nackered and would not hold charge
- Cylinder head has been off so I could replace some broken exhaust studs and do clearances, new gasket used no sign of any leaks
- EXUP working no 7K signal on startup, but one of the bolts is nackered on the cover, I welded a piece of metal on to fix that
- Carbs balanced as well
- Rear shock is soft, but i am 18 stone, so figures, pre-load is not maxed so could be adjusted, had swingarm and all components off to clean and re-grease bearings, all stock no shock upgrades.
- New Throttle Cables from WeMoto, old one had some nicks

Just don't use it any more as i have a new bike, so its sat and doing nothing, getting in my way as well, so need it gone, and it needs to be used.

Located in North East near County Durham

PM me if anyone may be interested, like I say, need to get MOT first and be happy it rides well before I definitely want to sell, as would not sell a bike with issues, but keen to know the market for it on here, may end up on ebay if no one local wants to take a look at it

Anutz!

  Clutch plate order
Posted by: JOE - 27-08-17, 11:30 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - No Replies

Hi folks.  Replacing the friction plates on my 04 with EBC heavy duty ones (currently soaking in oil).  I know order is important and have taken the old ones out as one to keep them in order.  The question I have is, is ther an easy way to tell the order on the EBC ones as they all look the same to me (except one which I think is the first one to go in the basket).  Have found one or two posts online saying they're all the same unlike the yam ones.
