Well I have given into an urge that has plagued me for years now and bought my self a BLUE motorcycle, yes the true colour, but I might fit some Silver bits to it just cos I can.

What bike is it? You ask.

Well I am loathed to tell you because i know you will all be green with envy.

It is not in my possession yet, but am going over to give it a good once over tomorrow, but I have done the deal and electronically shaken hands on it.

Below is a picture of the mighty one, not actually this very one but its the same in most details, apart from its has been in a barn for the last 5 years, a dry barn I hasten to add and was last started about 18 months ago.

I know you jealous lot of foccers are all on the edge of you seat thinking is a a Moto Guzzi or a Laverda Jotta or some such beast, no I tell you much, much better that either of those.

It is a

  Emergency Vehicle/Red Light Question
Posted by: YamFazFan - 20-12-17, 11:25 AM - Forum: General - Replies (83)

If you're sat at a red light and an emergency vehicle comes up behind you with lights flashing and siren sounding, is it against the law to cross the red light in order to allow the vehicle to proceed?.

Just observed such a situation.

The car driver was reluctant to cross the red light, but was intimidated to do so by all the surrounding drivers hooting at him.

  Fazer 600 not starting
Posted by: alex9576 - 19-12-17, 11:29 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (21)

Bit of a strange one this, I’ve bought my friends fazer 600 that’s been sitting for about 8 years at the back of his garage, it was his day rider for about 2 years, he serviced it and changed the spark the bike then refused to start its sat in the garage ever since.
Its partially striped tank off, air filters removed, I’ve tried to start it on a strong car battery its turns over fine has a good spark and fuel but won’t start, it has compression you can hear it, it just won’t start even with easy start and another set of plugs.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Alex

  Fairing removal
Posted by: HarryHornby - 19-12-17, 12:26 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (22)

And so it begins, you know any DIY project on my bike wouldn't be complete without a "what am I doing post" from me.

Following the instructions in the Haynes manual I've removed the infills, removed mirrors, removed the brackets that the mirrors connect to and I've unplugged the lights and indicators.

Apparently, I can now just withdraw the fairing from the bike, or maybe not, it won't budge.

Should the lights come out with the fairing or do I need to undo those from the fairing?  If so, any idea what bolts I should be attacking?

I suspect Haynes have got it wrong and there is more to undo to get the fairing off, any ideas?

Good news, Mr Red, the front wheel hasn't fallen off........... yet!  Big Grin

  FZs 1000 starting issues
Posted by: Lord_D - 17-12-17, 05:43 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (15)

So, after 6 months of perfect running, my Fazer has become very hard to start.
2006 FZs 1000, 20k miles.

The battery turns it over just fine, and from cold, on full choke, it will catch for a second, but before it will idle, it dies. And then it will spin and spin and make no attempt to fire.

I checked the plugs (CR9E) and they look like they have been there for a long time but were a good colour, sort of grey to tan with no soot and dry.

I thought it a good idea to change them anyway, so a set of iridiums went in this afternoon, but still the same.

I took out the air filter and it is dirty, but not blocked by any means.

I tried it without the air filter too, just the airbox lid on and same behaviour.

I also took no. 1 HT lead off and put in one of the old plugs and turned it over with the plug on the cylinder head and the spark looked good.

Am I missing anything obvious?

Cheers,

LD

  SAD NEWS
Posted by: DILLIGAFF - 17-12-17, 01:21 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

I came home from a week abroad to this news. He was a regular at my local and a nice guy. I hope I don't know the biker as well.

We are appealing for witnesses after a collision took place on the A244 Esher Road in Hersham earlier this evening (8 December).Just after 5.30pm a motorcyclist travelling west-bound was in collision with a pedestrian. Sadly the pedestrian, a man in his 60’s died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The motorcyclist, a man in his 30’s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Not sure exactly what happened but apparently he had been to the races at Sandown Park and stepped out in front of the filtering biker. I suspect it was his fault but still an awful thing to happen.

Take care out there guys.

  FZS 600 Fazer Foxeye
Posted by: Mark YPVS - 16-12-17, 03:33 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (9)

Hi all,

My brother is selling his Fazer 600 foxeye, just over 4000 miles from new ( its not moted at present GN03 MHZ you can check the mot history on line), light blue, standard except Venom end can and low seat ( have standard can and seat) , i Think Rich ( my brother) has done less than 300 miles since he brought it in about 2013 ,every year Rich had the bike collected by MOTT Bike shop, moted, drained and cleaned the carbs etc then delivered back to him and then it sat in his garage for another year.
I would think it needs the battery charging and the carbs cleaning (again) but i will check with Rich

If you're looking for a low mileage Fazer this is it Big Grin

The bike is in basingstoke Hampshire i haven't got any recent pics but the bike is garaged.

Now for the price  :rolleyes  I know its not the height of summer but a bike like this doesn't come up very often  Wink  so please tell me if i am way off on the price but i was thinking about £2500 ??

Your thoughts and input would be greatly recieved.

Thanks Mark 07731679927

  Oil level window
Posted by: L8onz - 15-12-17, 06:56 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (21)

Evening all,

This a part introductions, part cry for help.

I recently fell in love with the FZS 100 and bought one (it's my first big bike since passing my Mod 2), I will be taking steady till I get used to riding a bigger big.

The problem I have is the oil level window is brown........not clear, so I can't see anything inside. I found a post on here pondering if you could get to it when the clutch cover is removed, having a gander on youtube to see, I don't think this would be possible (unless anyone has successfully done this). A few places has asked about oil flush, but people seem to be against that due to the clutch.

Is it possible to take the drain plug out (thinking its the bolt on the left hand side of the belly pan) and get something inside to clean off the window?

I haven't got the oil warning light on, and it's running fine.

The bike has done 36,000 miles.

Cheers in advanced
