Just bought a Foxeye off the 'bay
Posted by: Tallbloke - 03-12-17, 10:53 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (10)

Morning all,

Just bought a 2003 foxeye off Ebay. I was the only bidder, probably because it's French registered. That suits me, as I'm doing up a house in southern Brittany, and need  to commute from Leeds on something which uses less juice than my ancient 4L Ford Aerostar van!

It looks reasonably tidy, but the photos aren't that great...Cue moody photo

[smg id=3053 type=preview align=center caption="'03 Foxeye"]

Anyway, I've been reading around the forum and it looks like there's a wealth of knowledge here. I'm already on the lookout for an R6 rear shock, as I'm a 16 stone tallbloke. This is only my second 4cyl bike, the last was a Z650 back in 1982. In between I've mostly been riding big twins:

Norton Commando I bought for £350 (It had been stuffed into a police car and the owner wanted rid quick)
Guzzi Spada 1000 (Took it round Europe, and the clock, twice)
BMW R1100GS (Crashed it spectacularly when I met a car which was on the wrong side of the road on a bend)
BMW R850R (Nice enough, but a bit dull)

Now wanting some fun as well as a reliable mile muncher, and on a tight budget, so here I come. I'll be picking the bike up from London in a week or so.

Evening Gents Smile

I was just browsing around trying to find some info on my bike and found the forum.

Just got a Fazer last week, hugely impressed! its my second bike, first bike was a 84" Honda Nighthawk, Iv'e already got started on stripping the bike down, my plans are as follows..

Custom made single seat and cut away excess frame, install a rear hoop with brake and indicators built in
clipons, new switches and brake and clutch levers
Led headlight built in indicators
Motogadget speedo built into top yoke
Motogadget RFID ignition

this is the last pic i took, i put on the headlight to see how it looked, but now more parts are taken off and gone to get sprayed

If anyone can tell me if this bike has an immobiliser? i cant find any info on that so far

Regards

  Caliper and parts
Posted by: tommyardin - 01-12-17, 11:25 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

Hey guys a couple of bits surplus to requirements.

FZS1000 Gen1 rear disk hanger plus the caliper anchor bar/rod see pic below.

Also a 2003 FZS 600 Fazer caliper, in reasonably good nick, the pistons look absolutely fine, not rusty, as does the rest of the caliper, the hex key pad pins are OK and undo as do the bleed screws. The caliper works absolutely fine and has no problems, it might look better for a repaint if you can be arsed, see the pic.
If your interested £12-00 would do it but remember postage needs to be added, so bear that in mind (38K miles) on caliper

I did not pay a fortune for the blue spot caliper and aesthetically the blue spot is in better condition, so not wanting a lot for the 600 one, hence £12 + postage

I took it off the FZS 600 to fit the upgrade Blue Spot Caliper from the fZS1000, hence the Gen1 FZS 1000 caliper hanger and anchor/torsion bar being up for grabs. if someone wants to pay the postage on the hanger and torsion bar they are welcome to it.

Hi Guys, looking at getting some soft luggage for my 09 FZ6 S2, I'm not looking for massive storage space, but whats the best fit for the panniers bearing in mind the exhaust's location, I'm also looking at a magnetic tank bag, what fits ?

Cheers

  Cold starting

Hi my 2001 5DM Fazer is being a PITA on cold mornings.. starts for a second, then dies and won't start again until the battery is virtually flat. I can hear the pump clicking away. Maybe not giving it enough time to prime itself or something ? Once it goes it's fine.. normally starts on the button without choke - any pointers ?

bike mis-fire,rev counter stops working, lights dim then it all works again??
Posted by: gosport paul - 30-11-17, 04:16 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (15)

Hi folks,I have a 600 fazer 2000my,has been fine ,then it started playing up,rev counter stop working, bike won't rev over 2000rpm,lights fade a bit, then comes back ok again, can do 10 miles no fault,or straight off the driveway, has anyone else had the same problem.
I have tried wiggling the wires behind the battery,it seems to stop temporarily then plays up again, have cleaned all the connections, tested voltage when running ok at 13.8-14v,then drops to 12-12.5 when rev counter stops working, any ideas on the fault?
Thanks
