  Oil level window
Posted by: L8onz - 15-12-17, 06:56 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (21)

Evening all,

This a part introductions, part cry for help.

I recently fell in love with the FZS 100 and bought one (it's my first big bike since passing my Mod 2), I will be taking steady till I get used to riding a bigger big.

The problem I have is the oil level window is brown........not clear, so I can't see anything inside. I found a post on here pondering if you could get to it when the clutch cover is removed, having a gander on youtube to see, I don't think this would be possible (unless anyone has successfully done this). A few places has asked about oil flush, but people seem to be against that due to the clutch.

Is it possible to take the drain plug out (thinking its the bolt on the left hand side of the belly pan) and get something inside to clean off the window?

I haven't got the oil warning light on, and it's running fine.

The bike has done 36,000 miles.

Cheers in advanced

Gen.1 with hand guards - photos
Posted by: Andy W - 14-12-17, 11:10 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (1)

I'd like to check the looks of our Gen.1's with hand guards if anyone can help with pictures please.

Also, I know the DL650 ones fit, would that be the 2004-20011 version?

Has anyone used other guards, eBay, etc....?

Thanks.

  Christmas has just come early!!!
Posted by: HarryHornby - 14-12-17, 07:46 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (22)

Patience is a virtue, so they say and I've waited months for this!  I didn't bother making an offer, didn't want to miss out, no point haggling over a few quid, that seemed a very fair price seeing as I was staring down the barrel of almost £300.  MEGA CHUFFED and can't wait to get back on the road next year.  :woot

This is what the seller says about the fairing: "Yamaha FZS600 Fazer front headlight fairing in excellent condition. Used but probably one of the best used ones around. No scratches or scuffs, no broken bits, all lugs intact. The pictures show the tiniest of marks which are all on the lower edges, but really even i'm been picky. The sticker on one side right up next to the indicator has lifted ever so slightly.
Comes with a very clean tinted screen."

I've just got to tell the wife when she wakes up..... oh well, this is what credit cards are for I guess.  Hope she wakes up on the right side of the bed

  Key Number? 2004 FZS 1000
Posted by: Decoke Dave - 13-12-17, 05:08 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (19)

I have no number code tag on the spare key and there is nothing recorded where it should in the handbook.  I know I can get a key cut by  copying the original but I have been told the number is noted discreetly on the locks, or at least one of them.  If this is so where exactly?  And do all Fazer key numbers of around this time have a prefix letter 'A'.  Secondly if I send it to get copied will they be able to tell me the number?

  Ivanising
Posted by: ptolemyx - 13-12-17, 06:37 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Just had Falcon269 do the Ivanising  and other intake work on my FZS. As others would have found out he's a top bloke who knows the carb' upgrade job inside out. A million thanks pal Smile
I had my doubts, but straight away from the first test ride I could tell an appreciable improvement in responsiveness and definitely more get up and go from the smoother idling right up through the mid-range - haven't had a chance to max it out yet but will do asap  :evil  Bike rides like it's new and not an old nail  8)
I'm definitely now another one in the camp of "you must get this mod done"

Hi All,

Just joined so wanted to say hi to everyone.

I have a 600 Fazer (2000 Model). More due to circumstance to be honest. I use the bike to commute daily so wanted something cheaper to run day to day.

To be honest, it's a big change for me and taking a bit of getting use to. Have always had bigger bikes, 1200 Bandits, GSXR 1000, Hayabusa, TL1000S and even had a big 1700 Harley  :eek :o

HOWEVER, now I have a son and needs must, haha. Just got rid of my TL1000 and jumped on the Fazer which was a shock. Reduced my fuel cost by 50% though which is what I done it for.

It's comfy though  Smile

  Performance Downpipes???
Posted by: Crafty1 - 12-12-17, 05:56 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi All,

I'm new here and new to a fazer. I'm use to bigger bikes, however, downsized for better fuel consumption.

My downpipes are shot, had them welded for now but need a new set.

Can's seem to find any decent big bore downpipes like Akrapovic, Yoshimura etc. I've found Delkevic and the likes, however they don't seem to be performance pipes, just stainless replacements. I know it's not a superbike but just looking for something to let it breath a bit better.

Is it just me or is the option just rubbish? What would you recommend?

Thanks.
