  Disc bedding procedure
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 19-04-18, 07:24 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

For this of you who have bought new discs or had a brand new motorbike..... what is the typical bedding in process??
I've never had either before and as such was just planning on riding as normal for a few weeks before being heavy on the brakes, but reading online there seems to be various different methods ranging from jamming them on at speed, slowly braking from increasing speeds and riding for X amount of yard with the brakes slightly on?
Anyone have any advice on a good way to bed them in correctly?

Hello all! My name is Laszlo, I am from Transylvania and I own my FZS 600 for the 3rd season now. I work as driving instructor (car and motorcycle) and my I spend almost all my free time riding or working on my and my friends bikes. My native language is not English, so sorry for my mistakes. I always did and will do all the maintenance jobs on my bike, also love to help out friends with this kind of stuff.

*SOLD*- Pair of Kappa Rear Hard Case Panniers and mounts for 1998-2003 FZS600
Posted by: hopefiendboy - 19-04-18, 06:53 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

Hi

Finally got my new bike!!! Yay! It came with some hard luggage and mounts which I will not need so putting these up for sale to fund general maintenance and suspension mods.

Genuine KAPPA left and right hard case panniers along with all mounts. The brackets show points of surface rusting in places but a quick rub down and spray would do the job- they are not heavily corroded. The system is very neat and mounts/dismounts in a very slick fashion-I was impressed. Both cases are lockable and come with 2 spare keys matching lock barrels (ie same key does both cases). Take up to 10KG max each according to the label. If I have time I will prep these brackets etc so that the rust is treated.

The previous owner also had the top box, the bracket mount has fixings for a plate for this but this has been lost/misplaced, but means in future you could add to this set up.

£80 pounds, a bit more for postage. Based in Edinburgh.

  Earplugs
Posted by: Wharfe - 18-04-18, 10:58 PM - Forum: General - Replies (25)

Apologies if this topic has already been covered / done to death but...
I have just spent 15 minutes digging around to remove a pinlock earplug that got "lost" (jammed) down my ear canal. They're for the bin, waste of 20 quid. At home, 'cos Mrs Wharfe snores like a seal colony, I use E.A.R. foam  plugs, but under a helmet they feel a bit bulky, despite doing the trick adequately well and not getting lost. And being dirt cheap if bought in bulk.
My question - does anyone have a cheap effective alternative to disposable foam plugs? I'm not fagged to go down the route of bespoke moulded plugs as they're expensive and I'll only lose them.
Your thorts please ladies n gents....

  % Brighter Bulbs
Posted by: Skippernick - 18-04-18, 08:43 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (17)

Off to a wedding in Ireland in June, and may have a couple of hours of motorway miles coming back in the dark.
Im not too bothered by my lights at night but then again I barely ride at night, not for a couple of hours any way.
So was wondering about 50,60 100% brighter bulbs.
Do they make a difference?
Are they just a straight swap or is there some fettling required due to motorbike wiring, I know its a straight swap on a car.

Cheers
Nick

  Fazer 1000 Gen 1 misfiring
Posted by: took - 18-04-18, 08:28 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (18)

Hi all, after a bit of help,

Went to play out tonight the 1000 wouldn't start, flat battery, flat enough to reset the time on the clocks so...i bumped it and got it going, now it is misfiring at low revs and has an erratic tick-over, when you rev it it fly's, revs all the way through on part or full throttle, when on the motorway it is hunting slightly, starts on the button now, any ideas anyone?

  Multi relay clicking
Posted by: jaywas - 18-04-18, 05:52 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

First day off in ages with good weather so thought I'd give me and the Fazer an 'airing'.  Switched on the ignition had the fuel pump prime and then the neutral light went out and heard a 'clicking from under the left side panel and the neutral flicked on and off in sequence with the clicks.  Took the panel off and traced this to a multi plug relay about the size of a box of matches - 3EN-81950-00 along the top. Anyone else had an experience with this? :'(
