Gen 2 gearing
Posted by: Neo - 05-08-18, 09:05 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (1)

Hi all

Not posted for ages but I just got back into a 2009 gen 2, just want to pick your brains about gearing.. presuming g the gearing is standard on my bike I'd say there's scope for +1 or -2 on the rear ? She's happy in 6th sub 30mph even 25 and singing higher up may improve mpg and ridability somewhat if I mod.. this may have been covered already in previous threads but I can't find them so apologies if I am opening an old discussion and thanks in advance

  Probably a silly question.....

Is it alright to mix fully synth and semi synth oils?

Both are Castrol Power 1, one is the racing and the other is standard.

I only ask as my local auto store has got an offer on the semi where you get 5 litres for the price of 4 and I already have 1 litre of fully synth in the garage, (as well as an engine fully of it)
Just thinking I can use the remaining 1 litre of fully synth mixed with 2 litres of semi and I'll still have 3 litres of it left for the next oil change?

Had wee Fazer since last September. Its had a few problems, but still going. Engines a wee bit rough , but apparently by what ive read so far on this site that seems normal , so ill keep her ticking over. Ill try adding a pic , and then post and see what happens. Will also say that since owning My wee bike this forum has been very helpful.

  Oil consumption
Posted by: steeeve66 - 04-08-18, 09:05 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

My Gen1 has started to 'eat' more oil lately, it used to munch through around 100ml every 1k to 2k miles or so but I think it's started to get through more now..

Is this normal for 35k miler? What's everyone else's experience?

Victory Vegas 8 ball for sale £4,800
Posted by: Billy Balthorpe - 04-08-18, 04:01 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

For sale is my 2007 Victory Vegas 8 Ball, 1634cc 5 speed. Ok so its not a Fazer, but it does look good next to one in the Garage. The only reason i'm selling this bike is because i don't ride it enough.
It has done 11,200 miles, only about a thousand of those have been done by me over the past 2 years. The pipes on it are Victory's own loud pipes and the noise they make is pure eargasm. This bike accelerates faster than any cruser ive ever had and handles beautifully. The tyres have plenty of tread on them and the belt is tight.
The bike is being sold with the standard black Victory panniers and fitting kit (never used by me) and a Victory Mustang seat (never fitted or sat on by me), not got a pic of these as yet but i will add later. These are not fitted, but to be clear, are included in the sale of the bike.
The bike is fitted with a working Datatool alarm. The ghost flames on the tank only really stand out in direct sunlight the rest of the time you can hardly see them.

Now for the (not so) bad bits. This is an honest sale so i'm going to list all the things that, if i was going to keep it, i would put right. There is a small amount of paint bubbling starting to appear on the lower edge of the rear mudguard and at the top of the rear light, iv'e tried to show this in the pictures, but it can be felt with the fingertips rather than seen. I was going to have the mudguard re sprayed so i wouldn't have to write this, but i was worried that if i did i would probably want to keep it. The mudguards are gloss black not metallic so the paint job would be cheap There is a small amount of the black finish on the engine which has come off, about as big as a 20p piece, i will get a pic of this and add later. Probably where a previous owner has left it out in the rain and it has gathered in the bolt hole recess on the primary drive (?) cover. And that's it. The bike will be sold with 12 months MOT. I'll take it down to the MOT man next Saturday. I live in Stoke on Trent so central for all if you want to come and take a look. The price is £4,800 firm, iv'e had a look on ebay and that's cheaper than any Vegas 8 Balls and a couple of the old V92 cruisers. Any questions please text or call on 07837960448. Ive tried to post the actual pics but they are huge, so here are the links, if anyone can get them to fit the board normally i would appreciate it.

FZS1000 Kais lowering shock and dogbones.£280
Posted by: sullspots - 04-08-18, 03:11 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Kais shock and dog bones from a 2004 Fazer 1000 with less than 10,000 miles.

I bought the bike from a chap at work who had the shock made for his 5’6” stature but found it just too low for me so here it is for sale.It was a quality ride and has multiple adjustment for spring preload, damping and compression.

Price is £280 and includes the dogbones and mainland postage.

  Absolutely Dead - Electrically
Posted by: bikeownerus - 03-08-18, 07:35 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi,
I have 'Y' plate FZS 1000 - as previously owned and improved by DevilsYam who I believe is no stranger to this good site.

Anyrate - I'm seeking some advice / guidance please.

Bike was running perfectly. Came out earlier in week, turned ignition key and absolutely nothing, no lights, no clicks or burrs...zilch.
Did a bit of research on this forum and initial feedback seemed to be battery. It was sitting at ~12.2 V unloaded (couldn't load it). I have had it on charge via Optimate and it's now at over 13V (charger still connected) - but still absolutely nothing when I turn the ignition key.

I've checked the fuses - all fine. I also have voltage at the main fuze when the ignition is turned which could suggest the barrel is OK??

I will remove plastic and tank tomorrow to see if there's anything obvious. I will also have a quick look and clean in the kill switch. May try a jump too.

However, my main question is: "does the fact that I get absolutely nothing point to a specific culprit - is there a relay which is the very first thing in the circuit (after the fuze)?".

I'm more than happy to buy a battery - but it doesn't 'feel' like that at the moment although I appreciate these can be digital in their behaviour.

Thanks  Smile
Doug

  Midrange - returning FOCer
Posted by: Midrange - 03-08-18, 11:47 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (1)

Hi all,
Back on the forum after a long time away.

I was a member many years ago but, after an unfortunate incident resulting in me no longer owning a Fazer 1000, I bought a Street Triple R. :rolleyes

I’m now looking to get another Fazer 1000 and, remembering the vast amount of information on here, knew I’d be best getting back on.

Most of my riding these days is on track days but I do want a road bike more comfortable than my current Fireblade.

My last Fazer was in a lovely condition at the end, Nitron shock, full Arata system and a Full Monty performed by Mike (Falcon269) so I have a high level to aim for..

Cheers

Keith

  Is this fairing right?
Posted by: Stevejay69 - 03-08-18, 09:47 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Please see the attached photo, I’ve just bought this bike but as it’s been a while since I’ve owned one of these I’m not sure if this fairing seems lower, there seems to be a lot of fork above the fairing, maybe it’s just my imagination, I’m not even sure if it would be adjustable which would mean I’m definitely imagining it...... senility kicking in?
