What is this plug and how do I disconnect it?!
Posted by: Grahamm - 30-06-18, 01:18 AM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

The LCD displays on the clocks of my FZ6 are flickering and I think it's due to dirty/ corroded contacts on the connector plugs that go from the ECU, past the yokes and into the bottom of the instruments.
There is a plug (see image) that I want to disconnect to clean the contacts, but it seems to have *three* clips, one on the top and one on each side.
This makes it impossible to get apart (at least as far as I have managed!)
I tried wedging thin screwdrivers down each side to separate the clips , then using another to undo the clip on the tip, but it won't budge.
Am I doing something wrong or is it just a total bugger??

Spark plug caps and ht leads (coils)
Posted by: Dave4521 - 27-06-18, 11:55 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hiya

I removed one of my spark plug caps (no 4) this evening and obviously pulled too hard on the ht lead itself, as it separated from the cap.  It looked like it had severed apart. Anyhow, I sort of stuck the two parts back together and slid the seal back over it. It seemed to hold together okay.

Tested the bike down the road and no obvious loss of power, so I assume there must be still be a live connection on no4, at least until I next hit a bump in the road  :b

Question:  Will I need to buy an new complete coil/ht lead/cap?  Or are the lead and cap actually meant to be in two parts that stick together easily by hand?  Thanks..

  Dropping forks.
Posted by: Kenbob - 27-06-18, 05:32 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

hi all.
Sorry if this has been done before but if not here’s a question for those who have done it.
When dropping the front forks do I need to loosen the top yoke bolts only or both top and bottom yoke bolts.
Many thanks.

T71 KAG - Looking for my old black Fazer!
Posted by: jock - 25-06-18, 05:52 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

I bought my black Fazer, T71 KAG new on 1st March ‘99 from Five Ways in Hull. I wouldn’t mind it back again if it was still in reasonable nick (and it was for sale obviously!). It’s been SORN for a couple of years but the mileage was only in the mid 20’s at the last MOT so I’m hopeful it’s just parked up in someone’s garage and not been scrapped. Is anyone familiar with this bike?

  Damper rod bolt
Posted by: Dea-ville - 24-06-18, 01:57 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi all, planning to change the front springs soon on my gen 1 fazer thou, i know removal of the damper rod bolt is required when changing seals but is it required when changing the springs? Flicking through the Haynes manual it shows removal of spring & change of fork oil without touching the damper rod bolt.
