Getting a Cat N write off back on the road - UK
Posted by: Just a Faze im in - 01-09-18, 09:50 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

My bike was classed as a Cat N write off due to bent front forks.
I've searched the DVLA website and I'm a bit confused as it states to notify them when the bike is sold to the insurance company. I didn't sell it to them, I've kept the salvage.
I'm getting the forks repaired, so any advice on next steps with the DVLA is appreciated.

  roadside puncture repair
Posted by: red98 - 01-09-18, 09:43 AM - Forum: General - Replies (32)

Ive been lucky with punctures but this week I managed to pick up an inch woodscrew in the rear tyre , left it in an rode home 25 ish miles , just about got home with 12 psi left........got up early this morning and thought I would have a go at repairing it with one of the two ŕoad side repair kits I have ,  one a crafty pluggef and the other a FOWLERS version of the same thing , used the fowlers one following the inst
ructions and in about 10 minutes the jobs done , didnt use the air canisters , I'll save them if I ever get stuck in the middld of  nowhere , I recently bought a SLIME compressor to use with the repair kits , connects to the bikes battery and easily pumps the tyre up to recòmended pressure , just a shame both items dont fit under the seat....I'll let the pictures do the talking but happy to answer any questions......well it is FOCU    Wink

Hypothetical question. Would a Fazer 600 run without its fuel pump as the tank is above carb height.

  New brake pads.
Posted by: Ricky - 31-08-18, 12:06 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Had to fit a new set of EBC HH pads. Mechanic found one side of front was all most down to the limit,  but other side seemed ok ??Easy fit and did not take long. Been out and gently been using the brakes. The pads seem to be binding on the discs  and when you push the bike about my drive I can feel the resistance. Is this normal? Will it settle in with use, or have I fitted them wrong?

The life of my fazer has changed...
Posted by: nickodemon - 30-08-18, 10:53 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (9)

I bought my fazer in 2005 brand new and within 2000 miles had the full monty fitted by Mike. I have fitted r6 shock, 2008 R1 front end and lot's of other accessories over the years. The bike has been amazing.... But times are changing and modern bikes are now, very advanced. I used to ride my Fazer and think it was top level handling and motor. It still is in many respects, but for a hooligan ride out at the weekend it's not doing it for me as much as my other bike, so now it has a new role... I am actually doing more miles on it because of this! It now is my all round travel bike/ winter bike. I have taken it to orkney isles, western isles and everywhere in between and it has been faultless apart from the alarm :\  I still love it. Never to be sold.

LOFO bike night - Thursday 13th September
Posted by: HarryHornby - 30-08-18, 09:04 PM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - No Replies

'Ello all,

My friend's band is playing at a charity bike night at The Knoxbridge, Frittenden, Kent on Thursday 13th September.  It kicks off at 7.00pm

Anyone about?  Can either meet there for a cuppa and a natter or we can have a fun bimble down there from North Kent.  Or arrange your own bimbles from your own areas.  Would be good to see some foccers :-)

  Koso multi-guage problems....
Posted by: Andy W - 30-08-18, 07:56 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Any of you use a multi-guage?
Mine has less wires than the OEM dashboard has....notably there is nothing to connect the wire from the fan to that used to connect to the dash PCB.
My fan will not work now. I've checked he fan & relay & they're fine.
Connecting that wire straight to live clicks the relay but doesn't start the fan.

Any experience to share?

  Swap To Hazard Light Switch?
Posted by: Northern Biker - 30-08-18, 07:36 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (21)

Hi all, just wondering if I can swap to a new LH switch gear on my '99 Fazer so it has hazard lights?
Is the wiring/plugs the same between the two switches? Would I need to add any extras such as a different flasher relay etc?
Looking at photos between the two I can see that one of the plugs is a different colour but I'm unsure if they are interchangeable between years.
Anyone else done this?
Thanks in advance.
Smile

  Starter delay
Posted by: 5LV - 30-08-18, 10:10 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Don't use the bike much these days, but went to start her up other day, pressed the start button........nothing. then all of a sudden she span over and started.
Wondering if this was a fluke, did it again, and again, and again.
There is a good 5s delay when you press the start button. I can hear the relay energise straight away, but doesn't send any power to the starter for a bit.
So what do we reckon then?
