How much does a Fazer engine weigh?
Posted by: Grahamm - 01-08-18, 08:10 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

I should get my Fazer back in a day or two once the engine has been replaced.
But I also need to get the old engine back and I don't want to pay the garage £30 for the privilege, so I need to figure if I can get it in a taxi then carry it in to my house.
Anyone got an idea how much a FZ6 engine would weigh?

What is this and why is it in my exhaust?
Posted by: Triggergee - 01-08-18, 12:31 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

i own two fzs1000's one is a 2002 and another 2005. After fitting a new end can to the 2005 bike I noticed three pipes inside of a larger pipe in the collector box after the exup which I took a disliking to so I checked my 2002 bike and it doesn't have them.
To me the 2002 bike feels faster but I've not really taken the new one out properly so this might just be in my head although it seems the mixture screw plugs on the carbs have been drilled out but the slide spring and needle look stock so I don't think the carbs have been played with.

Are these pipes some kind of restriction or something? Would there be any benefit or reason to either leave them in or take them out?

Thanks for the tip about 15w!
Posted by: Spiffle - 01-08-18, 08:17 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (21)

Hey!
Thought I'd update you lads after servicing the Fazer with new seals and 15w front fork oil: What an upgrade!

Just got mine back with new bearings, brakes, drivetrain and other items - and the effect of the shock upgrade was incredible. Thanks for convincing me! =D
((Is it a good sign when you ask the mechanic several times if he spotted anything that needs work, and he says 'neh - bike is almost perfect mate, you don't even need to do the carbs'?))

FZS 1000 Gen 1 parts for sale
Posted by: nzfjrider - 31-07-18, 06:19 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (5)

I no longer own my Gen 1 Fazer  :'( so I am having a garage clear out and have the following bits for sale.
Ohlins shock YA0502 or S46PR1C1S. It has remote preload adjustment and compression and rebound adjustment. It is in very good condition with only minor signs of use. There is no missing paint or rust on the spring or body. The only part that shows any sign of rust is the nuts holding the remote to the mounting bracket. I am looking for £330 plus shipping. Now sold.

Rentec engine bars. Never been fitted. Just minor marks where they were offered up to the bike. I had a set of these fitted to an FJ1200 some years ago and they did a fantastic job of saving the engine and fairing. I am looking for £40 plus shipping. Now sold.

Goodridge braided front brake lines. This is a twin line “race” setup that is new and in the original packaging with all banjos and washers needed. I am looking for £30 plus shipping.

Shipping is for mainland UK and possibly excluding The Highlands and should be no more than £15 for tracked and signed for. I am in Poole and am happy to meet or I am prepared to meet within a radius of 100ish miles for a serious buyer.

Hi guys, I have just balanced the carbs and then checked the TPS, the reading was 10, I read on here it should be 5 so I have adjusted it to 5.Looking through the Haynes manual it says the 5 setting is for bikes before 2003 and the later bikes you have to measure the resistance on the wires.Does anyone know if I have done wrong?Cheers John

G'day Riders
Had a look around for Fazer forums and settled here, as it has the most activity.
Just bought my 2009 FZ1S in very good condition with 43,000 km on the clock.
It has a few accessories and not much more I'll need to add.
Decided on a Fazer FZ1S as it ticked the most boxes on my needs list.
A group trip half way around Australia planned next year, and my regular DP dirt sled not an appealing choice for all that open bitumen riding.

I've been around bikes from some of my earliest childhood memories.
A 3rd generation rider and racer myself, with an international GP racer in the family extended clan.
Done most of my open competition riding on dirt with MX, Dirt Track and a bit of Enduro in the early 80s.
Had a bit of break for life, wife and family then went racing again from early 90s in VMX & Dirt Track.
So I'll be referencing the forum for needed info and if searches fail to deliver, I may posts up some questions.

Thanks in advance to all forum members for contributed info.

  guestimating clutch wear

Is it possible to get a reasonable idea of clutch wear/condition by viewing it from oil filler hole?
