  Front brake discs: Bobbins
Posted by: agricola - 16-09-18, 08:52 PM - Forum: General - Replies (12)

Trackday week after next, so had the bike on the ramp for a thorough check over. Never noticed before, but the bobbins on the front brake discs have a white mark on each one, on the inside faces only, as per the photo. Anyone know the purpose of said marks? Do they need to align with the slit in the disc? Opinions welcome ta

  Paint job - any recommendations?
Posted by: roxburd - 16-09-18, 07:03 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

I fancy having a bit of a paint job done - nothing too complicated but maybe incorporating a Union Flag or something like that. The bike is currently blue and I'd want the whole thing re-painted to a much darker colour scheme - mostly black/grey with maybe some other dark colour.

Any recommendations in the Suffolk area? Any examples you wanna post to inspire others considering it?? Typical prices?

Cheers,
Dave

Just purchased a 2008 FZ6 S2 Fazer, been out for the first time this afternoon.

At the ripe old age of 54 I decided to fulfill a lifelong ambition... did my CBT, took lessons, bought a little Honda 125cc, carried on taking lessons, did my theory, mod 1 and finally mod 2, passed Tuesday just gone ?, sold my Honda yesterday (Autotrader), bought the Yam today, from a local dealer... phew!

Really looking forward to getting out and enjoying riding, I’ve got no bike type wisdom so thought it would be a good idea to join this forum to pick everyone’s brains and to chat.

  Fork stanchion retained bush/valve thingy.
Posted by: deeteefifty - 15-09-18, 08:53 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hello, I stripped my forks down for a clean, re-seal and taffy up the paintwork. Just curious to know if the item fitted in the internal bore arrowed (not the split bush) on the photo is removable as I can't see any internal fastener and the stanchion end is swaged over. I wondered what needs to be done come the time the stanchions need renewal with aftermarket items.

  Whizzing Sound Coming From Engine
Posted by: Grant1Shepherd - 15-09-18, 01:20 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (33)

Hi guys and girls

Recently when I start up my bike she's been making this really noticeable whizzing sound from the engine while she is cold, as she warms up it progressively gets quieter, I'm not saying its louder than the exhaust or anything but while it is sitting there warming up I can definitely hear it and I haven't heard at all in the over 2 years I've owned her.

It almost sounds like a chain going round like the normal chain near the back wheel except for in the engine, I don't really know an awful lot about bikes so I have not even a clue for what it could be.

The reason I'm posting about it now is because tonight while I was riding around I started to hear it when accelerating, this time it was even louder than when the bike is just sat there warming up except for this was after 20 minutes of riding so she was definitely warm by this point.

She is a 2001 FZS600 with over 43k miles, she has never had any work done to the engine as far as I'm aware of (except regular oil and filter changes of course), only thing I've ever done even near that area is replace the carbs after my old ones started leaking fuel, however this work was carried out over a year ago.

Hope someone can tell me what it could be and if it is something to be worried about or if I'm just being stupid.

Thanks in advance guys.
