  SR125 Coil advice?
Posted by: Farmboy81 - 07-11-18, 10:28 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Hi guys, hoping for a little advice about my 2nd bike, a '91 Yamaha SR125 that I've picked up for cheap so I don't drop my Fazer when riding in the ice and snow.

It doesn't run currently and the problem seems to be the coil (way off spec according to the Haynes). All the replacements I can find online have "12v CM11 50" on the side, whereas mine has "12v CM11 55".

As far as I understand it (which isn't well), the 50/55 bit relates to the distance between the posts where it mounts to the frame? The only other difference I can see is that the "50" ones have bullet connectors, whereas mine has a 2 pin connector.

I know I can file the mounting bracket to fit, and change the connection on the loom to bullets, but I don't want to do that if it's not going to work!

Any advice? (example below of the "50" type)

  Hi from returning newbie.

hi one and all.

New to the group again( used to be a member several years ago).

Have recently bought a Fazer 8 having had a FZ6 S2 a few years back and loving it( divorce caused sale of bike).
I’ve had a GSXR until this summer but longed for getting another Fazer.

Work means I don’t get much time to take the bike out but when I do I tend to stick to Wales and the South West.

Look forward to meeting up with some of you soon

  Cobra brake lines
Posted by: redmandan - 06-11-18, 11:31 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

Looking around for some braided brake lines as an upgrade for this winter as part of an overhaul of the whole system.

A couple of forum posts from another site say these guys operate under license from HEL and therefore have the same standard/quality. That's great as they are far cheaper. Too good to be true right? Anybody have any experience with these guys?

A young apache brave asks for an audience with the chief "Come, sit and speak of your problems" "Thank you Geronimo,I was hoping you would explain how we got our names" "Ah,I'm often asked this question, you see it's quite simple,we name the infant with what's occurring at the time of birth,so Running Deer was named because a beautiful deer was running across the plains, and Sky Flash was named when a comet blasted across the heavens and your own brother Steel Blaze was named because the sun glinted on your fathers' tomahawk when he was born Thunder Brave when there was a violent storm,Fighting Bear who fought a grizzly bear,Stallion Breaker, after the great horse man, does this answer your question Two Dogs Shagging?"

Fitting Ivan’s slip on kit, who does it now ?
Posted by: Stinka - 05-11-18, 02:48 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

So I contacted my local bike tuner and dyno guy, he said he’s done a few and that it would be £295 to fit and set up on dyno, and that it might be an extra £20 if the supplied jets are wrong ...

I thought he can’t know what he’s on about as everything is correct with the slip on kit to my knowledge?!

Anyway I figured this was extortionate and I’d probably be better off doing it myself and saving £300 lol. But watched a vid on YouTube and it does look pretty bloody fiddly and drawn out...

So falcon is not fitting any more, anyone else ?

  Hello one and all!
Posted by: jackwebber - 05-11-18, 12:49 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

Hello foccers! Just saying hello, my name is Jack and I'm a southerner working in the north east of England. I've been riding a 125 for about 3 years and recently the money came in which allowed me to do my full test so I did. I had been reading about the Fazer for a while (including on here), and one day a feller in my local is congratulating me on passing and he tells me he has a fazer sitting in his garage doing nothing! So after a very quick look round I got my baby for the measly sum of £500!
Anyway here is a pic of her in the workshop  Smile

So thanks for the help you have already given me, and I look forward to being active on the forum.

I was really pissed at Rossi going down at Sepang,I thought his winning days were over to be honest ,it would have been a great day for him especially after the brother winning his 1st moto2 race! Not to be though and I don't see him winning at Valencia but you never know. :think

Battery dies but then comes back again, all a bit weird?
Posted by: ProdigalSon - 04-11-18, 09:52 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

So i got my bike out today to go for a ride with my friends having last ridden it last Saturday, as usual the bike fires straight up, I go to the garage again the same thing hop on fires straight up, get to meeting point have a coffee and leave and again it starts straight up. So a little further up the road we pull over and stop while one of the others fills up with petrol and bike doesn't fire and second push on the button the engine is slow to turn over, third push and barely turns one revolution.

Fortunately as it was warm it only took a brief push to bump start it and for the rest of the day no further problems, I checked the batter when I got home and these were the figures I got. Static ignition off 13.4 volts, engine running no lights 14.4 volts, engine running lights on 13.8 volts, these were all at tick over as I couldn't hold the multi meter on the battery and twist the throttle at the same time.

The bike doesn't have an alarm fitted so no rain on the battery whilst the bike is not in use and in the week prior to last Saturday it sat connected to my Optimate, any ideas peeps? Smile

  S1000rr shock question
Posted by: Stinka - 04-11-18, 10:51 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

just got my new (to me) 2004 fazer 1k home. It’s come with a few bits one of which is the beemer shock. It has 2 modified top bushes ready to be fitted, but my question is what’s the procedure for drilling out the bottom hole on the fork ? Can I do this with a hand drill ? Don’t want to bugger it up
