  Snotty Fazer
Posted by: Hugh Jass - 06-05-19, 11:13 AM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

I have a snotty old fazer in the back garden. It is just sitting there, stale fuel in the tank, it only gets a ride three or four times a year.
So do you guys think that I should keep it or sell it?
I'm loath to get rid of it because the milage is only about 25,000 and it runs perfectly after about ten minutes of riding. The first ten minutes are probably just getting the carbs used to some fresh fuel and she then goes like the clappers! But it is street fightered and in a snotty condition. I can tell from working on the bike that somebody has loved the bike at some point. I can also tell that they then sold it to somebody who didn't. Mechanically it is great, got renthals, single headlight and a raised rear with dog bones. Might still have the origonal dog bones but I am not sure.New carb inlet rubbers last year.

My insurance runs out in three weeks...So what would you guys do?
Put a years MOT on it and sell it on ebay?Keep it for the ocasional run?
I have just brought a Harley with the intention of choppering it and once that is done I cannot imagine I will ride the Yamaha much.
But I would be sad to see it go, to be honest.

  Rizoma Fat Bar - Black
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 05-05-19, 06:22 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Selling a set of Rizoma MA005B fat bars.
They're the ones that are 1 inch in the centre then taper out to 7/8th at the controls.
I'm pretty sure they are the lowest rise ones before drag bars
In good condition but have been drilled to accommodate Gen2 switch gear etc

If anyone is interested then I'm looking for around the £30 mark delivered to your door

My neighbour was behind me in his car on the second incident and came over to my gaff to say even he couldn't believe it !! :2guns

Fazer carb cleaned! Now a twin
Posted by: Slippy - 05-05-19, 01:48 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

As the title says I cleaned my carbs and the 2 middle cylinders aren't combusting Sad. I cleaned my carbs because of rough idle I found the offending pilot jet and cleaned it. A break down of what I did is:
- carbs out
- removed bottom of each carb
- removed pilot and main jet and cleaned with carb cleaner.
- carbs back in bike
- 2 throttle cables connected
- fuel line connected
- 2 coolant hoses connected
- idle connected

I have a feeling the 2 middle carbs are not seated correctly as the two middle down pipes stay dead cold while the other two get very hot. Any advice of something maybe obvious I missed ? Got a track day in 3 weeks so all help appreciated.  Thanks

Wheel alignment Idea for the Chain
Posted by: fazersharp - 03-05-19, 07:26 PM - Forum: General - Replies (25)

I read that the very best way is to measure from the swing arm but the rear axle has a hole in it which you need to find the centre of. So I came up with an idea to thread a wodden dowel through it. But one side is bigger then the other and it wouldn't work just waggling around so I took the slack up with some spacers so the dowel is held in the centre.
Its the same at the swing arm as each side is a different size hole but I got around that one by sanding down the dowel at one end.Now I can pull a tape measure across which is hanging off the dowel. And I have cut the swing arm dowel flush with the frame and marked the centre with a pen.
I think I will refine it further by also cutting the spindle one flush and adding a small headless nail to the centre end then use a metal ruler with a pin hole in the wide flat face to slot over my nail and then I can mark the other end on the thin edge of the ruler that lines up with the swing arm dowel pen mark. That way a stiff metal ruler is better than a bendy tape measure.

  Spark plugs
Posted by: fireblake - 03-05-19, 05:13 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

I'm going to change my plugs soon as they've done 45k and I'm doing a lot of touring this year so thought it would be best to change them whilst doing a service. My worry is counterfeit plugs. I've seen some Iridium one for under £30 and the same in the mid £50's. Do I buy the dear one and expect them to be kosher or risk the cheaper ones?

Hi all,

Thought I might put some feelers out - does anyone have a red foxeye front fairing/nose cone for sale, or know where I could find one (suggestions for wreckers etc)?

Thanks!

  Different tyre valve stem sizes?
Posted by: Grahamm - 02-05-19, 12:48 PM - Forum: General - Replies (9)

I bought a mini air compressor from M&P off eBay (see https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stop-and-Go-M...2761018999 ) but I've just tried to use it and the screw fitting on the end of the hose appears to be too large for the valve stem.
This means it won't screw in place and make a secure seal, so the air leaks out and I can only get about 25psi.
I thought valve stems were a standard size, but are there different fittings? Do I need to get an adapter?
Anyone know what's happening?
