Mods for an FZ1 on track?
Posted by: Tribal Chestnut - 18-07-19, 10:51 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

Has anyone on here done more than the occasional track-day on their FZ1?

I’m looking for suggestions on possible mods.

I’ve gone +2 on the rear and my yokes are 10mm lower, but I’m thinking about a better rear shock, quickshifter and 55 section rear tyre (currently a 50 PR4, so something a little more track-orientated too).

Might look at disabling the ABS, but only for the track.

Will also remove the centre-stand & Scott-oiler. Pillion pegs will have to stay for the kid.

I’m sure I met a guy at Brands back in April who had done a fair bit to his. Was on a red FZ1 in Inters.

I just finished creating a condensed circuit diagram of the Starter cut out and Side stand cut out circuitry for the Fazer1000. Got a lot of question on this over the years, hopefully this will reduce confusion  Smile or create more confusion :lol

I had me carbs out recently to fix a BOGGING DOWN problem... cleaned all and put pilot screws to factory setting.
engine is running OK now but a bit ROUGH..
so decided to balance the carbs....I found 1 and 2 so far out that no matter how much i adjusted 1 was still pulling more than 2...

  Ivan's jet kit's
Posted by: happycallis - 17-07-19, 08:34 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Morning all, I've searched this but still not sure.

I'm after an Ivan's jet kit but not 100% sure which one to go for. I have a pipercross filter and an akrapovic can fitted already but not sure which kit to go for.

What's people's personal preference to the kits?

Cheers

Mat

  Starting Problems
Posted by: Geowulf - 17-07-19, 08:25 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (1)

I have an 04 FZ1 with 19k miles, it starts OK 75% of the time, but sometimes it's a bit hesitant.

On a coupe of occasions, it failed to start at all and drained the battery, when I put it on charge, it started first time.

When it's hesitant, it usually takes two or three attempts to start, and I have to let the engine idle for a couple of mins until it settles. Sometimes it just fires up first time and is good to go straight away.

When it's been standing at work on a hot day, it starts, but it take a lot of cranking.

When it's cold, I use about 3/4 choke, when the weather is hot and the bike is cold, I use about 1/4 choke.

Is there a mod that will make starting consistent?

Meta M357T-V2 removal disaster - any help out there for an immobile bike?
Posted by: Extremepie - 16-07-19, 12:10 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (19)

Hi All,
new here.
I have just removed the Meta M357T-V2 from my FZS1000 '05 and got safely as far as I could.  What I didn't realise was that I could bugger it up further by trying to find the right links for the ignition circuits.
I seem to have gone from a fully functional bike apart from the dead-battery alarm, (now removed) to one that is screwed.
The neutral light is not functioning, and the spring in the starter button has changed and has significantly less resistance.  I blew the signals 20A fuse when using trial and error to find the right links.
Someone here suggested that it could be the fuel pump, relay but I don't know what's really happened.  Any help out there?
Cheers,

  Carb service service?
Posted by: bludclot - 15-07-19, 01:51 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

I have let one of my NC31 CB400s stand for too long and it starts but won't stay running - a classic case of gummed carbs methinks. I have removed the carbs and am looking for someone to ultrasonically clean and service them, any recommendations please?
