Hi, joined forum hoping to get lots of tips and info.
Just sold my 2016 66 plate Tracer 700 and bought a late 2003 FZ6s injection model. Started riding 56 years ago, touring days are over so now the real fun begins.

Infrequent cutting out and magical recovery
Posted by: MFD - 30-07-19, 07:08 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (23)

Hello all,

After 18 months of (almost) flawless service, my FZS600 has decided to start impersonating my old Suzuki.

On the way home from work on Wednesday last week, while going up a hill, the engine just cut out with no warning, wasn't even trying to fire. After pulling over onto the pavement and turning it off/on a couple of times, it still wouldn't restart. After a couple of minutes of me taking my gear off I gave it another try, and it immediately fired on the first spin.

Fast forward to tonight, and it packed in not too far from home, same as before. Rode it down probably from 70ish to 20ish in gear, no life from the engine at all. Pushed it on a bit, still wouldn't start, pushed it on a bit more, still wouldn't start... until I was in sight of home.

There was no smell of fuel when cranking either time, and it didn't start with an almighty backfire like other times I've flooded in the past, so I'm inclined to believe its a fuel issue. Both times the fuel pump was silent for all the starting attempts, so I don't think it temporarily ran dry or was struggling to prime or anything like that.

Is there anything near the carbs that can shut off the fuel supply to all 4 cylinders, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Any other likely suspects?

Thanks

  Deklevic headers and no exup
Posted by: goldfazer - 30-07-19, 05:12 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (18)

OK, the saga of the exup continues. I won't bore you with the details, but the selling dealer is saying that as it has a Deklevic an already, it'll run fine with Delklevic headers with no exup. My workshop says that's crap. What say you lot?

  Hi

Just picked up a 2004 Fazer 1000 yesterday. Has many of the popular mods and goes very well. Bought it as a second bike. I have a Moto Guzzi Breva 1100 and absolutely love it. Gorgeous, 'living' engine. Had a bit of spare cash and decided to get something different, though both are basically all-rounders. Before the Guzzi, I had a VFR800 - love V4s, my first ever bike was an early VF. Before that, I wore out a nicely modified FJ1200.

Does anyone know of any engine guards/bars that are compatible with a 2003 FZS 1000?

  New toy, few questions...

I bought this today:

Metallic blue, 14K miles, looks as though it's never seen any rain (that will change!) and starts, stops, rides and steers very sweetly indeed.

Some answers would be very much appreciated if anyone can help....?

- parts file download location? or can anyone send me a file?
- Datatool system 3 - is there a key conversion or should I just remove it?
- is there a decent forum for these?

I rode it back from north London to Portsmouth and I think very highly of it so far. It will not be replacing the Fazer 1000 however....

Bloody hell Paul.
This the road we took back to Pontypool at that exact time yesterday!!!!
Must have happened just behind us.

Poor bugger.
Yet another biker taken away and not his fault by the sound of it.

You've got to feel for the old guy driving the Range Rover too as he's probably in bits.
Mind you, it does strengthen the argument for more frequent driving tests above a certain age.
